Popular Japanese Novel Series Announces Anime With April 2026 Release

Good news for anime lovers! An animated version of the popular light novel series Killed Again, Mr. Detective? is officially in production. Recently, it was announced that the show is scheduled to come out in 2026.

During the MF Bunko Autumn School Festival 2025 livestream, it was announced that the light novel Killed Again, Mr. Detective? by Teniwoha (story) and Riichu (art) will be adapted into an anime. During the stream, a short trailer for the new anime series was revealed, giving fans a first look at what’s to come. The trailer also announced the main voice actors and the production team, and confirmed the series will premiere on TBS next April.

Rikuya Yasuda will voice the main character, Sakuya Outsuki, and Shion Wakayama will play his assistant, Lilithea. The animated series will be produced by Liden Films, with Takashi Naoya – known for his work on Tales of Wedding Rings – directing. Mio Inoue is composing the music, with Shuhei Mutsuki overseeing the show’s music production, and Akiko Kumada is responsible for the character designs.

Killed Again, Mr. Detective? first appeared in 2021 and has quickly gained a loyal fanbase. The story centers on Sakuya Outsuki, the son of a famous detective, who is determined to follow in his father’s footsteps. As a high school student, Sakuya becomes a detective himself, aided by his assistant, Lilithea. He also has a unique ability: he can revive after being killed. However, his first major case, which takes place on a cruise ship, proves to be more challenging than he expected.
