In recent years, many survival games launching in Early Access have become popular with players. New titles like the pirate RPG Windrose continue to make a splash. However, Palworld has really stood out since its release in January 2024. While it’s faced comparisons to Pokémon, the developers at Pocketpair are aiming to build Palworld into a major franchise, with plans for multiple spin-off games. It now appears that an online multiplayer (MMO) game could be one of those future projects.
I was so excited to see reports about a new Palworld trademark! Apparently, Pocketpair trademarked “Palworld Online” in both South Korea and the US, according to Gematsu. We don’t know exactly what they’re planning yet, but the developers have talked before about wanting to build Palworld into a whole franchise, not just one game. They’re already doing that with things like Palfarm, the mobile game, and even comics! So this “Palworld Online” trademark definitely feels like a hint of even bigger things to come, and I can’t wait to find out more!
New Palworld Trademark Could Point to Next Spin-Off

As a huge fan, I’m so excited to hear that Pocketpair is finally planning to officially launch Palworld 1.0 sometime this year! We’re still waiting on a specific date, but everything seems to be going well for a 2026 release. It’s not just Palworld either – they’re also working on a cool life sim spin-off called Palfarm and a mobile game! Plus, they’ve trademarked Palworld Online, which makes me think they might have even more up their sleeves!
As a big fan, when I saw Pocketpair filed a trademark with the word “online” in it, my first thought was, “Oh, awesome, a Palworld MMO!” It seems like a lot of games based on popular franchises – like Elder Scrolls Online or Lord of the Rings Online – do that. But thinking about it more, an MMO might not actually be the best fit for Palworld. Those other games were originally built as single-player adventures, which lends itself well to an online world. Palworld feels a little different, so I’m curious to see what they have planned!

Even though Palworld is still in development, it already lets players team up and play together. You can enjoy the game on your own or with friends, and this works across different gaming systems. Because the game already has strong multiplayer features, it’s unclear how many people would want a fully-fledged Palworld massively multiplayer online game (MMO). However, a free-to-play option, common for MMOs, could be a possibility. Currently, Palworld costs $29.99 in its early access version, and the price might go up when the full game is released later this year. A separate online game, perhaps called Palworld Online, could offer a different way to play, using the creatures—Pals—that players already enjoy.
Okay, so I saw this trademark filing and, honestly, it doesn’t necessarily mean a whole new game is coming! It’s probably just Pocketpair protecting the name and look of their brand, maybe for the full 1.0 release of Palworld or even the mobile version. It is pretty cool to see them still building things up, though, especially with everything going on with Nintendo and the Pokemon comparisons. It just shows they’re thinking about the future, whatever it holds!
