As a huge Star Trek fan, I’m really excited about the discussions around the franchise’s future! There are two ideas getting a lot of attention right now: Star Trek: United and Star Trek: Legacy. I’m particularly intrigued by United, which would revisit Captain Jonathan Archer – the original Enterprise captain – decades after the events of Enterprise. Apparently, it’s being developed as a politically charged thriller, and the creators – Michael Sussman and even Scott Bakula, who played Archer himself – have someone specific in mind to bring back for the show, which is awesome!
Actor Todd Stashwick, who played both the Vulcan Talok in Enterprise and Liam Shaw in Star Trek: Picard, recently discussed his potential return to the franchise. Speaking with Trekmovie after an appearance at ChicagoCon, Stashwick expressed interest in appearing in either the planned Legacy series or United series. He jokingly suggested he’s open to either role, having played characters in both timelines within the Star Trek universe already. Stashwick playfully appealed to Skydance and Paramount to move forward with United if Legacy isn’t happening immediately.
Would Stashwick Really Return?

When asked about Michael Sussman’s comments regarding bringing back actors for the potential United series (a follow-up to Enterprise), actor Anthony Stashwick expressed strong interest in reprising his role as Talok. He joked about how surprising it would be to return to Star Trek as Talok after so many years, instead of his previous character, Shaw. Stashwick enthusiastically said he’d be happy to return, even after a long break, and fondly remembered his previous Star Trek experience. He particularly enjoyed working with his friend Kara Zediker (who played T’Pau), getting to wear pointed ears on Vulcan, and participating in a fight with a lirpa, calling it a ‘great experience’.
When asked about Liam Shaw and whether his story was one of redemption, Stashwich clarified it was actually about character development. He explained that true redemption implies someone transforming from bad to good, but Shaw was always a fundamentally good person, simply trying to protect his community, even if his methods were a bit rough around the edges. Stashwich added that Shaw was right about many of the issues involving Picard and his crew.
