Popular YouTuber Unveils First Look at Original Anime: Watch

Moving from analyzing and reviewing anime on YouTube and podcasts like Trash Taste to actually creating one is quite a leap, and that’s exactly what renowned anime YouTuber Gigguk is doing. This year at Anime Expo in Los Angeles, he revealed the first trailer for his original anime titled Baan. With over 3.6 million subscribers on his main channel, additional content on a second channel, and co-hosting Trash Taste, Gigguk is well-known within the anime community. Given his affection for the isekai genre, it’s no surprise that this is the direction he chose for his first creation. However, Baan offers a unique twist.

Titled “Bâan – Exploring the Realms of Maturity”, this series offers a unique take on the isekai genre. Instead of the traditional formula (a hapless character dies, usually in a traffic accident, and finds themselves in a mystical land with extraordinary abilities and an all-female squad, while the antagonist is a seductive dark sorceress), this series integrates travel to other worlds within its narrative structure. The recently released trailer, premiered on Gigguk’s YouTube channel, provides further insights.

Baan‘s First Trailer Looks Like an Interesting Isekai Adventure

In a video named “My Next Venture,” which led some to believe the creator was leaving YouTube, Gigguk actually revealed the initial teaser for the project called Baan. The first portion of the video serves as an introduction, while the second half showcases the trailer.

This new series, created by GeeXPlus’ GeexProductions IP division and animated by Studio Daisy, tells the story of two main characters: Arai Daichi and Rinrada Ratchamanee. While one character inhabits our modern world, the other resides in the fantastical land of Euthania, connected via a portal. Each character embarks on their own journey through the other’s world, attempting to leave behind their past lives and discover themselves. The realm of Euthania draws inspiration from Southeast Asian mythology and folklore, as suggested by the intriguing creatures hinted at in the trailer.

The complete lineup of voice actors for the upcoming short film hasn’t been disclosed yet. Nevertheless, during the Anime Expo panel, some members of the cast were announced. One such actor is Sydney Poniewaz, who is married to Gigguk and will be providing the voice for Rin in the English version. For the Japanese dub, Hauruna Mikawa will be voicing Run, while Shoya Ishige will portray Daichi.

I’ve tried to maintain the original meaning while using simpler sentences and more conversational language.

Alongside the trailer, a new poster for Baan was also released. Check out the poster below…

Baan Has a Unique Release Schedule

The movie titled “Baan” will be available towards the end of this year, but it won’t be shown on Crunchyroll or in US theaters. Instead, it will make its debut at Grand Cinema Sunshine in Japan this August. Later, the film will be accessible for free on Gigguk’s YouTube channel. At the time of its online release, a behind-the-scenes documentary detailing the film’s production process will also become available. Notably, “Baan” features an exceptionally gifted creative team. The director is Yoshimitsu Ohashi, who has previously worked on “Code Geass Roze of the Recapture”, and Kevin Penkin, known for his work in “Made in Abyss”, is responsible for the film’s music score.
