Post-Apocalyptic Sci-Fi Series Arcadia Explores A World Without Humanity (Exclusive)

Science fiction often puts humans at the heart of the story, even if they aren’t the strongest characters. Usually, the universe revolves around people, not the other way around. But a new post-apocalyptic sci-fi series called Arcadia is different – it focuses on everything *except* humanity. We’re excited to give you an exclusive first look at this unique series below.

The creators of *We Live* and *Blade Forger*, Inaki and Roy Miranda, have joined forces with colorist Eva de la Cruz and letterer Dave Sharpe to bring a unique and imaginative story to Ignition Press called *Arcadia*. The story is set on Earth long after humanity has disappeared, replaced by a new life form called Serants. These beings are born from mysterious, cocoon-like creatures called Superdragons, and each Serant possesses a core that holds not only their memories and consciousness, but also what defines their very being – their soul.

Arcadia Reveals What Happens When Humanity No Longer Leads the World

After people disappeared, nature began reclaiming the planet, slowly concealing its past. As you’ll see in the 7-page preview below, these hidden secrets still affect those struggling to survive today. While new life has unexpectedly emerged, it faces overwhelming challenges and, sadly, much of it won’t last.

The Miranda Brothers explain that their book, *Arcadia*, came from a desire for connection, purpose, and authenticity in a difficult world. They created it as a reminder that even amidst hardship, beauty can still flourish. They express their gratitude to the bookstores and readers who supported *Arcadia*, emphasizing that their support isn’t just for a comic book—it’s a contribution to the vitality of independent storytelling.

Arcadia #1 continues the story that began with *Arcadia: The Cold Open*, a successful Kickstarter project that first introduced readers to the world of Arcadia and its main characters. Here’s an official description of the first issue.

As a total movie buff, I’m already hooked by this premise! Imagine a future where humans are gone, and something new has risen from the ashes of an old war. These aren’t robots, though – they’re called Serants, and they’re born from these incredible, almost organic-looking machines called Superdragons. What’s really fascinating is that each Serant has a ‘Pearl’ inside them – it’s like a core that isn’t just technology, but holds everything that makes them *them* – their thoughts, their experiences, basically their soul. It’s a really cool concept!

In the world of Arcadia, humanity is gone, leaving behind only ruins and skeletal remains. War is a distant memory, evidenced by decaying war machines and the ghosts of battles fought long ago. Nature is slowly taking back the planet, but the marks of the past are still visible everywhere. The people who now live were born into this broken world, emerging from massive underground shelters with no knowledge of where they came from, but driven by a basic need to survive. A small number of courageous individuals continue to help them, even as they struggle to survive themselves in a land with dwindling resources.

The first issue of *Arcadia* arrives in comic shops on November 26th, with two main cover options by artists Inaki Miranda and ACO (known for their work on *Batman* and *Wonder Woman*). A limited variant cover, with only one copy available for every five ordered, will be illustrated by David Lafuente (*Ultimate Comics: Spider-Man*).
