Enthusiasts of power dramas can rejoice, as it’s officially confirmed that a new series set in the same universe is on its way, ensuring the excitement continues for some time!
Now it’s been confirmed that Power: Origins has been given the green light, following earlier speculation about its development. This upcoming prequel series will delve into the backstory of Ghost and Tommy, the main characters initially introduced in the original series by Omari Hardwick and Joseph Sikora.
Although the main characters for the prequel series haven’t been finalized as of now, it’s clear that whoever steps into the roles will have to fill some significant shoes left by Hardwick and Sikora from the original program.
Nevertheless, it’s clear that a recognizable character will return, since it has been verified that Mekai Curtis, who portrayed young Kanan Stark in the previous series, will resume his role in Origins. Previously, this role was held by 50 Cent.
It has been officially announced that Sascha Penn, the brain behind “Raising Kanan,” will serve as the showrunner, scriptwriter, and executive producer for the upcoming television series titled “Origins.” This new project is expected to be the fifth series in the “Power” universe.

As a thrilled admirer, I can’t contain my enthusiasm about delving deeper into the backstories that shaped the founding forefathers of the PowerUniverse, as expressed in my statement regarding Origins.
For many years, the backgrounds of characters Ghost and Tommy have sparked endless curiosity and debate among fans. I’m excited to provide answers to lingering questions and reveal unexpected aspects of the plot that will take viewers by surprise.
The tagline for the series implies that “Origins” offers an exciting, energetic journey into a fresh era within the Powerfranchise, focusing on the daring ambition of up-and-coming men who strive to make their mark and achieve legendary status.
Kathryn Busby, head of original programming at Starz, added during the series announcement: “Ever since we were introduced to Ghost and Tommy in ‘Power’, our fans have been eager for their backstory. With this new series, we’re giving them exactly what they’ve asked for – a substantial response.
This signifies a thrilling, fresh phase in the development of this franchise, where we delve deeply into the historical significance of these famous characters and the dramatic events that have molded their journey.
As the fourth season of “Power Book III: Raising Kanan” concludes with a thrilling cliffhanger, there’s much more to explore about these main characters’ pasts. So, we eagerly await news of any potential shared characters between “Raising Kanan” and its prequel series, “Origins.
In the final episode of Season 4, Shameik Moore portrayed Breeze, a powerful drug lord whom Kanan, Ghost, and Tommy had previously collaborated with prior to the series Power, however, Breeze met an untimely demise before the chronology of that show began.
It’s quite possible that Breeze will remain a significant character in the narrative of Raising Kanan and could potentially show up in Origins, contingent upon how his current story arc unfolds.
As the fifth and final season of Raising Kanan comes to a close, eager fans can’t wait for the culmination of the series and also look forward to Origins, where they’ll get to follow along as the captivating narrative of Ghost and Tommy unfolds further.
I’m eagerly keeping tabs on the latest updates, as it seems the casting process for Ghost and Tommy is still underway. Stay tuned for more exciting announcements!
