2026 is shaping up to be a huge year for the Power Rangers franchise, with new developments across toys and streaming. The second wave of Playmates Toys’ Power Rangers Re-Ignition line will hit stores soon, and the long-awaited Power Rangers reboot is coming to Disney+. Now, even more is on the way: three new series have been announced, including one that will bring back a beloved character from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers in a surprising role.
At the ComicsPro convention, it was announced that the Power Rangers comic universe is expanding significantly. BOOM! Studios revealed plans for not one, but three new comic series this year. These include a fresh take on the classic Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, a new ongoing series called Power Rangers Unlimited, and Power Rangers Green, which will star the iconic Power Rangers hero, Tommy Oliver.
2026 Will Be A Big Year For Power Rangers Comics

The new Power Rangers books will each explore different aspects of the franchise’s history, with a unique focus. Let’s start with the main Mighty Morphin Power Rangers reboot series, written by Marguerite Bennett, Andrew Lee Griffith, and Joshua Jensen.
The new series will feature updated Power Rangers costumes. Instead of many small diamonds, the suits now have one large diamond with two smaller ones above it. This diamond pattern is also found on the gloves and boots. The helmets have been slightly redesigned, with the Red Ranger’s visor getting the most noticeable changes.
The suit isn’t one solid color anymore. Instead, the outer parts of the legs, chest, and shoulders are a slightly darker shade, and the diamond patterns are all unique. This creates a cleaner, more modern design. The core Ranger colors haven’t changed, and the cover suggests we’ll see the usual five Rangers, with a possible Green Ranger joining the team soon.
The Power Rangers Unlimited series is shaping up to be a collection of stories spanning the entire 30-year history of Power Rangers. While past Unlimited books were single, self-contained stories, this new series will continue indefinitely and draw from all existing Power Rangers TV episodes and comic book storylines.

Next up is Power Rangers Green, a story centering on Tommy Oliver. This time, however, Tommy is the only Power Ranger remaining. BOOM! Studios previously explored an older version of Tommy in the Soul of the Dragon miniseries, but that story didn’t establish him as the last Ranger. Since other Rangers still existed in that world, this new series could have a darker, more dystopian feel, but we’ll have to see how it unfolds.
Many upcoming books are currently planned for release in 2026, and we’ll share updates as we get them. So far, the only confirmed title is Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #1, scheduled to arrive in comic shops on June 3rd, 2026.
