Excitement is growing for the upcoming Power Rangers series on Disney+, especially with all the rumors about who will be starring in it. But beyond the casting news, some new details have surfaced that suggest this show will be quite different from the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.
A source familiar with the upcoming Power Rangers series recently shared details about an early script written by showrunners Jonathan E. Steinberg and Dan Shotz. The script reveals this won’t be a continuation of the original team – it features a brand new group of Rangers, not Jason, Trini, Zack, Billy, or Kim. However, there’s a surprising element to this new team that has been hinted at.
Please keep in mind I’m working with incomplete and preliminary information – this seems to be a very early draft, so things are subject to change. However, based on what I’ve seen so far, the character isn’t Jason…

Although it hasn’t been officially confirmed, the costumes suggest a connection to the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. It seems the new Rangers are inheriting their powers from a previous team – one that featured Red, Blue, Black, Pink, and Yellow Rangers. The show will be set in high school, and the main villain is reportedly female, though her identity remains unknown.
A quiet town is thrown into chaos when strange things start happening with time – people disappear, memories get altered, and pieces of technology from the future suddenly appear. This draws together an unlikely group of individuals, and they soon discover they’re destined to become the first team of Power Rangers…

The Power Rangers Reboot Might Reestablish The Franchise In A Meta Way

I just saw something really interesting online! Apparently, someone shared an early look at what the new Power Rangers series might be about, and it sounds… different. It seems like the show is going to acknowledge the history of Power Rangers in a clever way. The synopsis said a town starts experiencing weird time stuff – people disappearing, memories changing, and future tech showing up. That’s when a group of unlikely heroes get pulled into becoming the new Power Rangers… but here’s the twist: nobody even remembers the Power Rangers ever existing! It sounds like a really fresh take, and I’m definitely intrigued.
Okay, so this new movie really messes with your head in a good way. It’s not just about what’s happening in the story, but how the world remembers the Power Rangers – or doesn’t. There’s a running theme of things fading away, and hints that this isn’t the first Ranger team ever, but the first in a long time. That’s huge! It suggests a whole history of teams we haven’t seen yet. But it gets even more interesting – the fact that the world seems to have forgotten the Rangers feels like a nod to how fans have felt about the franchise over the years. Like, have we forgotten what made Power Rangers special? It’s a clever, meta touch that adds a lot of depth.
It’s possible I’m reading too much into this, especially since this is based on an early version of the script, so things could change. However, it’s still exciting to see the fresh ideas being explored. I particularly like how this storyline could honor the history of Power Rangers while also allowing for a new generation of characters who aren’t tied to the original cast and can forge their own path. We’ll need to wait for more official information, but hopefully we’ll get some details soon.
