Since the Earth’s Mightiest Heroes chose to retire their superhero gear following Avengers: Endgame, a power gap has emerged in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Individual heroes like Doctor Strange, Spider-Man, and Captain America have been handling issues independently without summoning reinforcements during challenging times. However, contrasting the desire to curb the Avengers’ activities expressed in Captain America: Civil War, the U.S. government is now eager to reassemble them. Thunderbolt Ross pressures Sam Wilson into reforming the team, while Valentina Allegra de Fontaine takes independent action towards this goal.
With Project Sentry, Valentina designs what she perceives as an ideal superhero named Bob Reynolds. However, she quickly loses command of the scenario and inadvertently releases The Void over New York City. The Thunderbolts perform admirably in assisting Bob, but it’s regrettable that the original Avengers weren’t present. Here’s a speculation on how each of the six original Avengers would handle themselves against Sentry.
6) Black Widow

As an avid filmgoer, I can’t help but marvel at the strategic prowess of Black Widow. Time and again, she manages to outwit formidable adversaries like Loki, Ultron, and even the fearsome Thanos. Her tactical acumen is truly unparalleled, making her a force to be reckoned with in any battlefield. However, when it comes to Sentry, his irrational behavior during muscle flexing moments creates an insurmountable challenge for Black Widow. In this specific skirmish, it seems prudent that she steps back and lets the rest of the team handle things.
5) Hawkeye

Hawkeye isn’t like other superhumans, but he has superior aim compared to any human on Earth. Loki, along with Ultron’s minions, are aware of Hawkeye’s potential danger. However, Sentry is in a league of his own when it comes to villains. While Hawkeye might have an arrow that could momentarily hinder Sentry, it won’t be enough for him to emerge victorious.
This version retains the meaning of the original text while making it more easily understandable and using a conversational tone.
4) Captain America

In the comic series Thunderbolts, Sentry regularly squares off against powerful soldiers like the Winter Soldier, U.S. Agent, and Red Guardian. Although Steve Rogers (Captain America) might be stronger than these individuals, it doesn’t matter much when Sentry is present in a fight. Captain America would only have a chance if Thor lends him one of his divine weapons capable of killing gods, but he can’t rely on that happening again.
3) Iron Man

As a cinephile, I must admit that it’s rare to find antagonists who truly challenge the genius that is Tony Stark – his intellect often puts him leagues ahead, ten steps to be precise. Even the uncontrollable fury of the Hulk succumbs to the might of the Hulkbuster armor. Regrettably, there’s little evidence to suggest that Iron Man possesses a suit capable of subduing the Sentry within his arsenal. All he can do is absorb a few blows before passing the baton to someone more powerful.
2) Hulk

When Bruce Banner’s angry alter ego, the Hulk, causes chaos in Harlem, it significantly alters the Marvel Cinematic Universe, leaving everyone on high alert since anything can trigger him. However, contrary to popular belief, Hulk isn’t invincible; he often gets beaten up before merging with Banner to form Smart Hulk. Unlike his comic book counterpart who can stand against Sentry, the Hulk in the MCU is a different case, making it essential for the Avengers to follow only one strategy to defeat Sentry.
1) Thor

The movie “Thor: Ragnarok” revolves around the character Thor, the Asgardian hero, discovering that he’s more than just his hammer. His father Odin aids him in understanding his true identity as the God of Thunder. However, the issues Thanos creates while pursuing the Infinity Stones demonstrate that power alone may not be enough to solve every problem. Thor crafts Stormbreaker and comes close to defeating Thanos and his Infinity Gauntlet. If Sentry were to provoke a battle with the Avengers, Thor would have to adopt the same strategy. Compassion may not play a part as Thor targets Sentry’s head, thus eliminating a danger that could potentially endanger not only Earth but also the entire cosmos.
