Capcom has several promising games planned for next year, including *Onimusha: Way of the Sword* and *Resident Evil Requiem*. But the most interesting one is *Pragmata*, a sci-fi shooter where players control an android named Diana to hack targets while another character, Hugh, shoots. While recent previews have been well-received, the game has been delayed multiple times since it was first announced.
At Tokyo Game Show, director Cho Yonghee explained the reason for the game’s delay to The Gamer: perfecting the hacking system. He said it took a lot of experimentation and refinement to get it right. “It was a major factor – we went back and forth a lot just figuring out what felt good and worked best,” he explained.
Producer Naoto Oyama explained that the game took longer to develop, in part because of its two core mechanics: Diana’s hacking and Hugo’s shooting. The team carefully worked to balance these elements. They also spent time considering how much of the screen the hacking interface took up.
Despite showing *Pragmata* so early in development, the team has no regrets. According to Yonghee, releasing the initial trailer actually helped motivate them. “If we hadn’t shown it when we did, *Pragmata* might have turned out very differently,” he explained.
According to Oyama, the game’s delays actually fueled excitement. Every time there was a digital event, fans were hoping to see Pragmata. It’s still uncertain if the final product will live up to those expectations.
The game *Pragmata* is coming out next year on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC. A new trailer has been released, showing off the Shelter – a place where players can create hacking tools to give Diana new skills and improvements.
