Prime Video Now Streaming One of the Best Heist Movies of All Time

This week, Amazon’s selection of action movies significantly improved, particularly in the action genre. The service now offers a variety of strong action choices, such as original productions like “Reacher” and the latest release “Heads of State.” However, the newest addition stands out as one of the best action films ever made and arguably one of the top heist movies of all time. Given its exceptional quality, it’s a must-watch for Prime subscribers who haven’t seen it yet.

The movie we’re discussing is “Heat,” a bank robbery thriller directed by Michael Mann in 1995. In this film, Robert DeNiro and Al Pacino play adversaries – a legendary thief and a troubled police officer caught in a game of cat and mouse with high stakes. When it was initially released 30 years ago, “Heat” was widely hailed as an instant classic. Moreover, over time, it has grown to be one of the most impactful action films of the 1990s, frequently cited as a significant influence on “The Dark Knight” and many other works by Christopher Nolan.

If you’re craving a high-octane action flick or a captivating heist story, then you won’t find many movies that surpass Heat. Its plot is electrifying, boasts remarkable acting, and the iconic downtown shootout stands out as one of the most authentic and nerve-wracking gunfights ever filmed.

Try to recall another film scene that shares a similar intensity or atmosphere as the action sequence from “Heat,” and you’ll find it challenging to find one that comes close. Christopher Nolan drew inspiration for The Dark Knight’s iconic opening from this scene, but he couldn’t quite capture the spine-tingling sound of the guns that Michael Mann recorded live on the streets of downtown Los Angeles.
