Prime Video has a lot of exciting action content. Amazon’s streaming service updates its selection every month with new movies and TV shows. Prime Video subscribers can now enjoy one of the greatest action series ever made, though there’s a catch. Prime Video is constantly adding to its streaming library.
Those with a Prime Video subscription can now watch the first four films in the Bourne series. The original Bourne trilogy – The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy, and The Bourne Ultimatum – featuring Matt Damon as a man with amnesia searching for his past, along with The Bourne Legacy starring Jeremy Renner, began streaming on Amazon’s platform on September 1st. However, fans of this popular action thriller series won’t find the newest film, Jason Bourne, on Prime Video; it’s available on HBO Max and Peacock. Similarly, the TV series Treadstone is not on Prime Video and can be streamed on Hulu and Peacock.
Why You Should Watch the Bourne Franchise
The Bourne series revolutionized the spy thriller by taking a raw, realistic approach, establishing a new standard for action movies and influencing many that came after. These films are known for their use of a shaky camera technique, which pulls viewers into the intense and chaotic world of Bourne, and for their big-budget, action-filled fight and chase sequences. Instead of relying on computer-generated imagery, the filmmakers prioritized real stunts and practical effects to create believable and impactful scenes. This action is carefully balanced with a fast-moving, complex story, a compelling central mystery, and strong character development, adding emotional depth to the thrilling series.
As a huge action fan, I still think the original Bourne trilogy is among the best ever made. It’s incredible that all three films have a “Certified Fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes – meaning critics loved them, with scores of 80% or higher! And audiences really agreed, giving them 90% or higher on the Popcornmeter. Now, The Bourne Legacy, with Jeremy Renner, didn’t *quite* reach the heights of the first three – critics gave it a 56% and audiences a 58% – but I still appreciate it. It did a good job of expanding the Bourne universe and the cast delivered some really strong performances.
New Movies Now Streaming on Prime Video
Prime Video regularly updates its streaming selection, and a new collection of movies and shows became available on October 1st. Those with a Prime Video subscription can now enjoy films like Braveheart, Bruce Almighty, Casino Royale (2006), Death at a Funeral, Easy A, Four Weddings and a Funeral, multiple Indiana Jones movies, The Breakfast Club, and the recently added Play Dirty.
Prime Video has added some seasonally appropriate movies for Halloween, including thrillers like Bodies Bodies Bodies, the classic Creature From The Black Lagoon (1954), Jeepers Creepers, and Us. They also have options for younger viewers, such as Scooby-Doo (2002) and Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed.
