As a big sci-fi fan, I’ve always found Prime Video to be a fantastic streaming service. Right now, they have a great selection, including older favorites like John Carpenter’s Escape From New York and Bong Joon Ho’s The Host. But it’s not just classics – they’ve also got newer hits like the animated Transformers One, the scary and exciting Companion, and the prequel A Quiet Place: Day One from last year. And it’s not just movies either; Prime Video has some really great sci-fi TV shows too!
Like with most streaming services, movies on Prime Video don’t stay forever, and it’s especially true as the month ends. Prime Video is about to remove a highly-rated sci-fi film, 10 Cloverfield Lane, which has been available for a while. And time is running out to watch it!
10 Cloverfield Lane Remains One of Hollywood’s Most Unique Movies

As of today, 10 Cloverfield Lane is still available on Prime Video, but it won’t be for much longer – it’s been marked as leaving soon. If you haven’t seen it, or want to watch it again, you have four days left. It will be removed from Prime Video after November 23rd. It’s currently unknown if another streaming service will pick it up, but you’ll probably still be able to buy or rent it on Prime Video.
I have to say, when 10 Cloverfield Lane came out in 2016, it was a really refreshing surprise. What struck me most was how secretive the whole production was – they barely gave anything away beforehand! It turned out this was a smart move, because as people started seeing it, the connections to the original Cloverfield – everyday folks caught up in a bizarre sci-fi situation, and a whole lot of mystery – became clear. The studio cleverly repositioned it as a spiritual sequel. Honestly, it was a bold move to drop the title and trailer just a month before release – something I doubt any studio would risk today, even though it totally worked for this film.
Beyond its interesting production and release, 10 Cloverfield Lane remains one of the most compelling mainstream sci-fi films of the 2010s. The movie begins with Mary Elizabeth Winstead’s character, Michelle, waking up in a strange basement after a car accident. A man named Howard (John Goodman) tells her the outside world has been attacked and the air is toxic. As Michelle tries to adapt to life in the bunker with Howard and another survivor, Emmett (John Gallagher Jr.), the truth about what happened and Howard’s identity begins to come apart.
