Prime Video’s 4-Part Action Thriller Series Should Be Your Next Weekend Binge Before It Returns

Action thrillers, with their fast-paced stories and complex plots, are perfect for watching multiple episodes back-to-back. Shows like Reacher and Cross have made Prime Video a go-to place for fans who love thrilling, action-packed entertainment. But before those popular series, Prime Video proved it could deliver great action with a realistic show that first aired in 2018 and lasted for four seasons.

The TV series Jack Ryan, based on the characters created by Tom Clancy, was the first time the story was adapted for television after several successful movies starring actors like Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck, and Chris Pine. Over its four seasons on Prime Video, the show became a popular and arguably definitive take on Jack Ryan, often compared to Harrison Ford’s portrayal as the best version of the character.

For those who haven’t already experienced Jack Ryan on Prime Video, your weekend viewing is sorted.

Jack Ryan Is Perfect For Your Weekend Binge-Watch

With 30 episodes, it will take more than a weekend to finish Jack Ryan, and that’s intentional. Each season focuses on a different, self-contained mission. While Jack Ryan’s role evolves and a few familiar faces reappear with John Krasinski, you can watch the four seasons in any order you like. Think of the series as four long movies.

Honestly, it’s best not to assume each season of Jack Ryan will flow seamlessly into the next. If you binge-watch it like a typical streaming show, moving directly from season one to season two, you’ll notice things don’t quite connect. Characters come and go unexpectedly, and the storylines don’t always align perfectly.

It’s much more enjoyable to watch all eight episodes of Jack Ryan season one over a single weekend – like a Friday to Sunday stretch – and then wait a while before starting season two with a fresh perspective.

Jack Ryan is designed to be a show you watch all at once. Unlike series like Breaking Bad or The Sopranos, where each episode feels particularly strong on its own, Jack Ryan works best as a complete season. The story builds steadily from start to finish, and the suspense is most effective when you watch multiple episodes back-to-back. You really need to watch it as a whole to fully appreciate the thrilling plot.

John Krasinski’s Jack Ryan Will Soon Return In A Movie

As a huge fan of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, I was thrilled to hear the series isn’t truly over, even though the last episode aired in 2023. Amazon is making a Jack Ryan movie with John Krasinski reprising his role, and thankfully, Wendell Pierce and Michael Kelly are coming back too! We don’t know much about the plot yet, but since filming is scheduled for 2025, I’m guessing we’ll see the movie sometime in late 2026 or 2027. It’s great they’re continuing the story!

You don’t need to have seen all four seasons of Jack Ryan to enjoy the new movie. However, watching John Krasinski as the character in the TV series will definitely get you excited about the film!

Knowing another season is coming gives viewers of Jack Ryan on Prime Video peace of mind – they won’t feel sad when a great season ends, knowing the characters will return.
