As a fantasy fan, I’ve been keeping a close eye on what Prime Video offers, and honestly, they’ve had a bit of a bumpy ride with the genre. Their huge productions like The Wheel of Time and The Rings of Power seemed to appeal to a broader audience, but the book purists weren’t thrilled. But their best fantasy show – well, it almost didn’t get a chance to finish due to some serious behind-the-scenes drama! Thankfully, that’s been sorted out, and we should get a proper ending. And good news: there are two fantastic seasons already available to dive into – or re-watch if you’re like me and can’t get enough!
As a huge fantasy fan, I was immediately drawn to this show knowing it was based on a novel by two legends of British fantasy. And honestly, the cast alone is worth the watch – you’ve got David Tennant from Doctor Who, Michael Sheen who I loved in Twilight, even Jon Hamm from Mad Men! It might not have the massive scale of something like The Rings of Power, or the visual flair of The Legend of Vox Machina, but for me, it’s easily one of the best fantasy shows Prime Video has to offer right now.
Okay, so this show is about an angel, Aziraphale, and a demon, Crowley – played by Michael Sheen and David Tennant, and trust me, they’re amazing together. They’re supposed to be on opposite sides of this huge cosmic battle, but they’ve actually become friends, which is a big no-no. The plot kicks off when Crowley accidentally misplaces the Anti-Christ, and suddenly he and Aziraphale have to team up to find him before the world ends. It sounds totally crazy, and it is, but honestly, it works because the chemistry between Sheen and Tennant is just so genuine and sweet. You really believe in their friendship.
Prime Video’s Best Fantasy Series Is Also Its Most Controversial
Recent news about author Neil Gaiman has understandably affected how fans view his work, including the show Good Omens. In 2025, Gaiman faced accusations of sexual assault, misconduct, and coercion from several women. These cases are still being investigated, and Gaiman has refuted the claims. However, the serious nature of the allegations and the stories shared by those who came forward have significantly changed how fans perceive his creations.
When Neil Gaiman faced difficulties, production companies and distributors, including Prime Video, quickly ended their collaborations with him. After the second season – which featured a new story written by Gaiman, following the first season’s adaptation of the book by Gaiman and Terry Pratchett – Prime Video decided to cancel the planned third and final season. But that wasn’t the end of the story.
‘Good Omens’ Will Get an Ending… Sort Of

Prime Video
Following Neil Gaiman’s departure as showrunner, Prime Video has decided to deliver a proper ending to Good Omens. The show’s second season left viewers on a cliffhanger, and fans have been eager for a resolution. Instead of a full six-episode final season, the story will conclude with a 90-minute special episode. Currently, the finale is scheduled to premiere on May 13, 2026 – more than three years after Season 2 aired.
