Prime Video’s Deadloch Finally Returns This Week After 3-Year Hiatus

The second season of the Australian comedy-mystery series Deadloch premieres this week. Fans have been eagerly awaiting its arrival, as it’s been three years since the first season was released.

I’m so excited! Deadloch Season 2 is officially coming to Prime Video on March 20th! I loved the first season when it dropped back in 2023, and I was honestly starting to worry we wouldn’t get a second one – thankfully, it was renewed in 2024. It’s cool they moved filming up to the Northern Territory this time, after shooting the first season in Tasmania. They were filming late last year and wrapped everything up recently, so it’s finally almost here!

Deadloch Has a Perfect Rotten Tomatoes Score

Despite not becoming a massive streaming hit, Deadloch was successful enough to earn a second season. Critics loved the first season – it has a perfect 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes – and audiences generally enjoyed it too, giving it an 88% audience score and a 7.5/10 on IMDb. This is a strong showing for a more specialized crime comedy series.

This series takes place in a small Tasmanian coastal town. The story begins when a man is found dead on the beach, and things quickly escalate as more bodies turn up. The investigation is headed by two detectives who are complete opposites: one is a strict rule-follower, while the other is a free spirit. Their clashing personalities create a darkly funny dynamic that adds a welcome touch of humor. The show playfully subverts common crime drama clichés, offering both a satirical edge and a compelling mystery.

There’s a New Mystery to Solve in Deadloch Season 2

Deadloch’s cast features Kate Box as Senior Sergeant Dulcie Collins, alongside Madeleine Sami as the unique detective Eddie Redcliffe. Alicia Gardiner plays Dulcie’s wife, Cath York, and Nina Oyama stars as the optimistic constable Abby Matsuda. Joining them in the new season are Luke Hemsworth, Steve Bisley, Sharri Sebbens, Damien Garvey, Anthony J Sharpe, and Ling Cooper Tang.

I’m so excited for Season 2! Detectives Dulcie Collins and Eddie Redcliffe head up to Darwin to look into the death of Eddie’s old partner, Bushy. But things get complicated fast when they find a body part way out in Barra Creek. To make matters worse, the local police are already stretched thin searching for some missing backpackers, so Dulcie and a really unwilling Eddie are stuck trying to figure out who this unidentified person is.

Detectives Eddie and Dulcie are investigating a case in Barra Creek, a remote town plagued by a strange mix of problems: a surge in crocodile attacks linked to the local tourism industry, overworked park rangers, and secretive residents. While battling the heat and a personal health issue, they quickly realize the case is far more complex than it initially seemed, with hidden secrets lurking beneath the surface of this small community.

Deadloch’s second season will premiere with the first two episodes on Friday, March 20th. After that, new episodes will be released each week.
