Prime Video’s Hit Thriller Series Is Finally Back With a New Season

As a huge fan of Prime Video shows, I was so excited to finally see one of their best return after over a year! February has already been a great month for new content on the platform – they’ve added everything from classic movies like Charlie’s Angels and The Big Lebowski to more recent favorites. But the real treat was when their hit thriller series dropped back onto the platform with three brand new episodes – I couldn’t wait to dive in!

Aldis Hodge returns as Alex Cross in Season 2 of Cross! The popular Prime Video series, based on James Patterson’s novels, premiered new episodes on February 11th. The show follows forensic psychologist and detective Alex Cross and his partner, Detective John Sampson, as they track down America’s most dangerous criminals. Three episodes are currently available, with new episodes releasing every Wednesday. The eight-episode season will conclude on March 18th.

Prime Video’s Cross Is an Arresting Crime Thriller, and Season 2 Is Even More Intense Than the First

As a huge fan of crime thrillers, I was completely hooked by Cross when it dropped on Prime Video earlier this year. It quickly became a massive hit, reaching 40 million viewers worldwide in just twenty days – and deservedly so! What really grabbed me was how the show balanced intense, twisty suspense with really well-developed characters. It’s not just about Cross tracking down criminals; we see him battling his own demons and the grief over his wife’s murder. Luke Hodge is phenomenal in the lead role – he perfectly portrays Cross’s intelligence and also his emotional vulnerability. Plus, the chemistry between Hodge and Isaiah Mustafa, who plays Sampson, is electric – their scenes together are captivating. It’s no surprise it earned a ‘Certified Fresh’ rating on Rotten Tomatoes with a 76% score!

I was a little worried if the second season of Cross could live up to the first, but those fears were quickly put to rest! Even though official scores aren’t out yet, early reviews are amazing. It’s definitely darker and more intense this season, but it still has everything I loved about season one. The story still focuses on the characters, and it’s just as gripping. This season throws a really interesting new case at Cross – he’s hunting a vigilante who goes after corrupt billionaires! They’ve added some great new characters, especially Matthew Lillard as Lance Durand, a powerful billionaire, and it really raises the stakes and makes things more morally complex. Plus, Ben Hodge is fantastic again as Cross, and we get to see even more of how his mind works when he’s profiling people.

Will There Be a Cross Season 3?

Everyone’s been asking me about a third season of Cross after that amazing start to Season 2, and honestly, I wish I knew! As of right now, Prime Video hasn’t announced anything official. We’re all just waiting to hear what happens next. The good news is, the creator, Ben Watkins, has told us he’s got a plan for the show spanning four years, so if Season 2 does as well as the first, I’m hopeful we’ll get more. Fingers crossed!
