Prince Andrew’s Coat of Arms Taken Down From Windsor Castle

The British monarchy appears to have taken another step to distance itself from Prince Andrew.

A flag displaying the royal crest given to King Charles III’s brother when he was young has been removed from St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle. The BBC shared photos showing the change on October 24th, just a week after the 65-year-old announced he would no longer use the title Duke of York following claims he has denied.

The flag, featuring red, yellow, blue, and white, displayed a single anchor and signified his membership in the Order of the Garter. He received this honor in 2006 but relinquished it last week, along with his title and other honors, as announced in a recent statement.

Buckingham Palace released a statement from Andrew in anticipation of a new memoir by Virginia Giuffre, who claims she was sexually abused by him when she was a teenager and was being trafficked by Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sex offender and former associate of the prince. The memoir is scheduled to be published on October 21st.

The British monarchy appears to have taken another step to distance itself from Prince Andrew.

Photos shared by the BBC on October 24th show a banner displaying the coat of arms given to King Charles III’s brother when he was a child has been removed from St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.

This change happened just a week after Andrew, age 65, said he would give up his title as Duke of York following claims he has denied.

NBC News has reached out to Buckingham Palace for comment and has not heard back.

The flag, featuring a red, yellow, blue, and white design with a central anchor, symbolized Andrew’s membership in the Order of the Garter. He was appointed to the Order in 2006 but relinquished it on October 17th, along with his royal title and honors.

As a longtime observer of this situation, I’ve been following the news closely. It seems Prince Andrew recently released a statement through Buckingham Palace just before a memoir by Virginia Giuffre is set to be published. Giuffre, who accused the Prince of sexual assault when she was a teenager, was a victim of Jeffrey Epstein, and the memoir details her experiences being trafficked by him. It’s a really difficult situation, and this timing feels significant.

As a lifestyle expert, I’ve followed this situation closely. After a legal dispute with Andrew that was settled in 2022, he’s consistently maintained his innocence. In his most recent statement, he again firmly denied any wrongdoing, echoing what he’s said all along.

Royal expert Sharon Carpenter told TopMob News that removing Andrew’s titles effectively ends any chance of him returning to royal duties. It’s a final and permanent decision.

Although Andrew is no longer using the title Duke of York, he still retains the title of prince – a title bestowed upon him at birth by his mother, Queen Elizabeth II. He also remains a duke in the technical sense, according to reports.

According to Carpenter, Andrew couldn’t have lost his title of Duke before he died without a law being passed – specifically, a vote in Parliament would have been necessary.

Prince Andrew, the younger brother of King Charles III, has announced he will no longer use the title Duke of York. This decision comes because of ongoing public concern about his relationship with the late Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sex offender.

After talking with The King and my family, I’ve decided the ongoing accusations against me are taking attention away from the important work of His Majesty and the Royal Family,” Prince Andrew said in a statement. “As I’ve always done, I’m prioritizing my family and country. Therefore, I stand by my decision to step back from public duties, which I made five years ago.”

Look, after a lot of thought and with the King’s blessing, I’ve decided to step down. That means I’m relinquishing my title and any honors I’ve received. And let me be clear – I absolutely deny the claims that have been made against me, just as I’ve said before. It’s time for me to move forward.

In October 2025, the King and his oldest son attended the Countdown to COP30 event held at the Natural History Museum in London.

The couple took photos outside the museum before going inside to talk with government officials and activists focused on fighting climate change. This event happened before the COP30 World Leaders Summit in Belém, Brazil, in November, which Prince William will attend in place of his father.

In September 2025, Sarah, Duchess of York, was removed as a patron of Julia’s House after a 2011 email to Jeffrey Epstein surfaced, revealing she referred to him as a friend.

As a long-time supporter of Julia’s House, I was saddened to learn of their recent decision regarding the Duchess of York. The charity released a statement explaining that, in light of the information revealed about her correspondence with Jeffrey Epstein this weekend, they felt it was best if she step down as their patron. They’ve thanked her for all she’s done for them in the past, and while I understand their position, I’ll certainly miss her involvement with such a wonderful cause.

I was shocked to learn that the emails were actually written after Epstein threatened her. It really puts everything into perspective, knowing she was responding under duress.

After a 19-month absence, Prince Harry was spotted arriving at Clarence House—the King’s home in London—apparently to visit his father before attending another event in the city.

Harry arrived at the house around 5:20 p.m. on September 10th, but Charles had come back just a few hours earlier.

Princess Anne’s son and his girlfriend, Harriet Sperling, announced their engagement on August 1st. They had been dating for over a year. His father is Mark Phillips.

The couple’s representative told Hello! magazine that both families were told about the engagement at the same time and were very happy about it.

Just a day before turning 78, the royal was made an honorary Vice Admiral by the Royal Navy.

Oh my gosh, you won’t BELIEVE this! Camilla is the very first woman ever to get this incredible honorary title! It’s so special because only the King – my King, Charles III, of course – can actually give it to someone. But get this, he doesn’t just decide on his own! It’s on the recommendation of the First Sea Lord, and right now that’s the amazing Sir Gwyn Jenkins! I’m seriously obsessed with all of this!

Just hours before she was scheduled to attend, Princess Catherine canceled her appearance at Royal Ascot, the annual horse race. Kensington Palace confirmed the news to NBC News.

The palace said Kate was sad to miss the event, but is still working out how to best manage her public appearances as she recovers from cancer.

Prince Harry’s lawsuit seeking extra security ended on May 2nd when a court dismissed his case. This followed a decision over a year prior where the High Court, through the Royal and VIP Executive Committee, had already denied his request for increased protection.

After Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped down as senior royals in 2021 and moved to the U.S., their security details were reduced. However, Harry continued to request security arrangements whenever he returned to the U.K.

Prince Harry told the BBC on May 2nd that he was deeply upset by the outcome of his recent legal case. He added that, as things stand, he doesn’t foresee returning to the UK with his wife and children.

In a BBC interview on May 2nd, Prince Harry said his father, King Charles III, isn’t currently speaking to him due to disagreements about security. However, he expressed hope that they could repair their relationship.

Prince Harry expressed a desire to rebuild his relationship with his family, including his father, but indicated the decision to move forward rests with his dad.

He doesn’t foresee returning to the U.K. with his family anytime soon. He expressed sadness at the thought of his children not being able to experience his home country with him.

Harry explained that his father has significant influence and could potentially solve the situation. He doesn’t necessarily need to get directly involved, but simply allow the professionals to handle things and continue their work.

I can’t believe it! After all this time, he’s finally trying to make peace! It’s like a weight has been lifted, honestly. He actually said it himself – he said life is just too short, and he doesn’t know how much time he has left with his dad. It just… it gets me right here. It’s amazing to see him finally putting family first.

More than a year after revealing his cancer diagnosis, King Charles wrote on April 29th that going through treatment has highlighted the kindness and goodness in people.

In a booklet offering support to people with cancer, Charles wrote that receiving a diagnosis is understandably scary for patients and their families. However, drawing from his own experience, he also believes it can reveal incredible kindness and strength in others.

I’m incredibly grateful for the amazing healthcare professionals who supported me recently. It’s really reinforced how much I admire the dedication of all the organizations and individuals working in healthcare – many of whom I’ve had the pleasure of knowing, visiting, and supporting over the years. Their work is truly extraordinary.

Prince William, Kate Middleton, and their three children – Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis – were absent from the royal family’s traditional Easter service at St George’s Chapel in Windsor on April 20th.

King Charles III and Queen Camilla joined other royals in celebration, but Prince William and Kate chose to spend the weekend at their country home in Norfolk with their children, according to several news sources.

I was absolutely gutted they weren’t there again this Easter. It’s the second year in a row, you know? And it just felt so much heavier this time, happening so soon after Kate shared her news… her cancer diagnosis. It just breaks my heart.

I was so excited to hear that Jason Knauf is the new CEO of The Earthshot Prize! He shared a message on their website saying he’s really looking forward to working with the amazing team and everyone involved in the Prize to keep pushing forward with their important mission – that hopeful, optimistic approach to tackling climate change. It’s great to see such a dedicated leader taking the reins.

He was promoted almost seven years after he raised concerns about Meghan Markle, claiming she bullied two assistants and tried to discredit another staff member. Representatives for the Sussexes denied these claims, telling The Times the story was a deliberate attempt to damage their reputation with false information.

Buckingham Palace looked into the claims, but the investigation concluded in 2022 with no public announcement of its findings.

William and Kate’s eldest son George attended a soccer match in Paris alongside his dad April 7.

A father and son happily watched the UEFA Champions League Quarter Final match between Paris Saint-Germain and Aston Villa at Parc des Princes stadium.

Graham Craker, a former bodyguard to Prince Harry and Prince William, passed away in April at the age of 77.

Craker was with Princes William and Harry when they found out their mother, Princess Diana, had passed away, and he was present at her funeral.

In 2017, Craker told The New York Post that he saw Prince William during the procession. He explained that he was standing near the back of the hearse when Prince William looked up and made eye contact. Craker nodded back, and he felt that Prince William was reassured to know he was with his mother during her last journey.

Hugh and Olivia Grosvenor, whose relationship includes a connection to King Charles III – Hugh is his godson – shared the happy news on March 12th that they are expecting their first child.

Prince Frederik, the son of Prince Robert and Princess Julie, passed away on March 1st at the age of 22 after a fight with a rare genetic condition called PolG mitochondrial disease.

Robert shared in a statement that his son, Frederik, is a superhero to their family, many friends, and now, thanks to Frederik’s PolG Foundation, to people around the world. Robert believes Frederik’s strength lies in his ability to inspire others and lead by setting a good example.

Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, reached a legal settlement with News Group Newspapers – the company behind both The Sun and the now-closed News of the World – on January 22nd. He had sued them in 2019, claiming that journalists and investigators working for the newspapers illegally obtained information about the royal family.

As a long-time supporter of Prince Harry, I was relieved to hear about the settlement. The company didn’t just pay a significant amount in damages – they also gave a complete and sincere apology to Harry, and importantly, publicly admitted how much harm they caused by their invasive coverage, not just to him, but also to his mother, Princess Diana. It’s a huge step towards acknowledging the pain they inflicted.

On January 14th, The Princess of Wales shared the wonderful news that her cancer treatment has been successful and she is now in remission.

She announced on X (formerly Twitter) on January 14th that her cancer is in remission, and she’s now concentrating on getting better. She added that, like anyone facing a cancer diagnosis, she’s still adjusting to life after it.

She added that she’s excited about the year ahead and optimistic about what’s to come.

Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, is grieving the loss of her rescue beagle, whom she adopted in 2015, before she met Prince Harry.

Okay, so she posted on Instagram, and honestly, it broke my heart. She said she’s been crying so much, like, tears that just won’t stop. She described it perfectly – you know when you’re crying so hard you just stand in the shower hoping the water will wash it all away, even though you know it won’t? She said that’s how she feels, but then she added that it’s okay to feel that way, and honestly, that just made me love her even more. It was just…so real, you know?

Meghan lovingly remembered her dog, Guy, saying, ‘Thank you for all the years of unwavering love. You brought so much joy to my life.’

Edward Pettifer, the stepson of Prince William and Prince Harry’s former nanny, Tiggy Legge-Bourke (also known as Alexandra Pettifer), was a victim in the New Orleans terrorist attack on New Year’s Day.
