Prince Harry & Meghan Markle Make 1st Appearance at Sundance Festival

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are throwing their weight behind a meaningful new project.

Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, attended the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, on January 24th. They were there for a showing and celebration of the new documentary, Cookie Queens.

The new film features Harry and Meghan as executive producers and follows four young Girl Scouts during their competitive cookie season. It’s a story about the contrast between childhood innocence and striving for success, and it’s a project Meghan, a former Girl Scout, feels particularly connected to.

At the event, Harry and his wife took pictures with guests, including Robert Redford’s daughter, Amy. Harry wore a black long-sleeved shirt, a black vest, green pants, and brown suede boots. His wife chose a simple, all-black outfit with a sweater and flared pants.

The next day, Harry and Meghan, parents to Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 4, came back to the festival for the documentary’s official debut. Meghan then spoke to the audience from the stage.

Harry recently made two public appearances, his first since giving evidence in a London court case. He was testifying against Associated Newspapers Limited, the company that publishes The Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday, and shared how the newspapers’ coverage had affected Meghan emotionally.

The royal testified in court on January 21st that speaking out against those he opposed had resulted in ongoing harassment. He also stated, according to People magazine, that his wife had been made deeply unhappy by their actions.

Harry claims the lawsuit he and others – including Elton John, David Furnish, Elizabeth Hurley, and Sadie Frost – have brought against the publisher has actually increased the unwanted media attention he and Meghan are receiving.

Honestly, watching this whole thing unfold has just been devastating. It’s not getting any easier, it’s actually getting worse. Seeing him get so emotional… it breaks my heart. He’s right, it’s just so unfair to drag everyone through this again. All we want – all we need – is for someone to just say they’re sorry and take responsibility. It’s been absolutely awful to witness, a truly horrible experience for everyone involved.
