Prince William doesn’t have to visit the Glastonbury Festival to hear some live music.
It turns out that at home, the Prince of Wales has a young musician in training – his son Prince Louis, who is 7 years old and happens to be the youngest member of the royal family. During a visit to a youth group in London on September 9th, the royal mentioned that both he and Kate Middleton are nurturing little Louis’ budding musical talents by teaching him to play various instruments.
In response to one of the teenagers in the youth group, William clearly stated, “I don’t play the drums,” as reported by Hello! magazine. “However, I’m thrilled to watch you perform. If my youngest were here, he’d join in since he’s currently practicing. I often wish I had started playing when I was your age.
It appears that Louis’ love for music is a familial trait, since he shared that he too played various musical instruments during his youth.
He admitted that his inability to read music was a significant drawback for him. Initially, he played the piano, trumpet, and drums, but soon discovered that he had to memorize every melody to perform effectively, which eventually became less of a challenge.
Although William’s sonic drive (whatever that may be) is gone, he found solace in motivating his two other children, Prince George, aged 12, and Princess Charlotte, who is 10, to keep practicing their musical reading skills consistently.
As a passionate music enthusiast, I prioritize instilling the art of music within my offspring. To me, music is more than just a form of entertainment; it’s an essential and highly significant aspect of life.
On more than one occasion, William has expressed his admiration for his children’s talent in rhythm. Notably, he mentioned that he needed to establish a schedule for Louis, George, and Charlotte to play their musical instruments, because they often tried to make music simultaneously.
He shared on Apple Fitness+’s Time to Walk series in December 2021 (as reported by Town & Country magazine) that he’s been astounded by how much his children have inherited the family’s passion for music. Every morning, there’s a lively disagreement between Charlotte and George over which song should play. Now, I often need to alternate who gets their preferred tune on different days.
