Priscilla Presley is sharing insight a devastating moment.
The 80-year-old woman described the devastating day her daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, passed away in 2023 at the age of 54. Lisa Marie was the only child of the woman and her late ex-husband, Elvis Presley.
Priscilla Presley described the day her daughter, Lisa Marie, passed away as the second-saddest day of her life, second only to the loss of Elvis, she shared in a recent interview with *People* magazine. She explained it took her a significant amount of time to accept Lisa Marie’s death.
It was a really scary time for the Presley family. Lisa was unexpectedly hospitalized after her ex-husband, Danny Keough – and father to Riley and the late Benjamin Keough – found her at home and immediately called for help. It turned out she was experiencing complications from a previous bariatric surgery, a small bowel obstruction. I was so relieved to hear Danny acted so quickly. Priscilla was right there with her, spending the entire day at the hospital, which just speaks volumes about their bond. It’s a reminder that even with past relationships, family always comes first, and health issues can arise unexpectedly, even years after surgery.
My daughter Lisa had stopped breathing and was put on a ventilator,” the mother recalled. “We waited for hours, just hoping and praying, until the doctor came in and told me, ‘I’m so sorry, she’s passed away.’
Priscilla admitted it was hard for everyone-including Lisa’s children, Riley and the sixteen-year-old twins Harper and Finwood Lockwood, whom she shares with her former partner Michael Lockwood-to come to terms with the situation.
Priscilla said they were in disbelief, and still struggled with what happened. “It was really tough for everyone, and it continues to be,” she explained.
This isn’t the first time Priscilla Presley has spoken about the loss of her daughter. Last month, she publicly refuted claims made in a lawsuit by her former business associates, Brigitte Kruse and Kevin Fialko, that she went against Lisa Marie’s wishes when removing her from life support.
According to a lawsuit reviewed by NBC News, she decided what was best for her child as part of a plan to take back control of Elvis’s financial holdings.
Priscilla strongly refuted the claims made in the lawsuit, describing it in a statement to *People* magazine on August 14th as “shameful, ridiculous, and without any merit.”
She stated the lawsuit was simply a cruel and dishonest effort to damage the reputation of an eighty-year-old woman.
