Project TAL Showcases its Beautiful World and Epic Boss Fights in New Trailer, Out in 2027

MADNGINE, the developer, and Wemade Max, the publisher, have revealed a trailer for their upcoming single-player, open-world RPG, now called Project TAL. Previously announced as TAL: The Arcane Lands, the game is currently slated for release on PC and consoles in 2027, though a specific date hasn’t been announced yet.

The new trailer (available below) highlights the East Asian inspiration behind the world and characters of Project TAL. It also gives a glimpse of the gameplay, where players will cooperate with characters in the game to defeat huge monsters. The game appears to feature different classes and roles, with each character having unique weapons and abilities to fight enemies.

The trailer featured three distinct weapon types: a massive two-handed sword, a sword and shield combo, and a fan-wielding character offering a more magical approach to combat. It also highlighted how allies can assist the player – in one scene, after a boss grabs and throws the player, an ally catches them, quickly getting them back into the action.

The trailer showcased a diverse range of enemies, from common soldiers to huge boss battles fought on the back of a dragon. Players will need to learn each enemy’s attack patterns and find opportunities to strike. Knowing when to defend – like blocking a dragon’s fiery breath with a shield – will also be crucial for success.

Wemade Max CEO Sohn Myun-seok announced the trailer for Project TAL, describing it as a thrilling action RPG with a heartfelt story about restoring a damaged world. He stated that the game, developed with MADNGINE’s skills and creativity, is a high-quality, open-world title designed to compete internationally.

Originally announced as Project TAL, the game is being built with Unreal Engine 5 and aims for incredibly realistic graphics. The story is set in a fantasy version of Korea’s Joseon Dynasty, where the land has been invaded by strange creatures. The game world will blend traditional Joseon designs and symbolism with fantastical elements to create a unique and immersive experience.

The game’s title, TAL, represents a traditional mask and suggests an ambitious adventure where players will overcome the constraints of fate and destiny. Unlike games in the ‘souls-like’ genre, Project TAL will feature faster-paced combat, blending open-world exploration with action RPG elements.
