The action series Prototype, known for its super-powered characters, might be returning, according to recent changes made to the game on PC.
Both games have received their first Steam patch in years (which unfortunately broke the mod that allowed them to run smoothly), and observant fans have noticed some alterations in the end credits.
So, I was digging around and found a new section mentioning work on a Ubisoft Connect version of the game, which is kinda weird because I don’t think that exists yet. Also, I noticed Beenox and Demonware, studios owned by Activision, are now listed in the credits. That’s a new development, and I’m really curious to see what they’re up to!
What’s particularly noteworthy is the involvement of Iron Galaxy Studios, an independent game developer. They recently released Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 and have experience both with bringing games to PC and providing development assistance.
Many believe these updates to the credits suggest that a remaster or remake of the game might be in development. It’s a strong signal to those working on such projects.
It’s not definitive proof, of course, but it’s definitely odd to see these changes to the game’s credits appear so unexpectedly.
There was also a report earlier this year – a rumour, specifically – from someone who tested the game, suggesting that a new Prototype game is currently being made.
