PlayStation has been adding only one new game each month to its most expensive PlayStation Plus Premium subscription tier for the past seven months, including the game announced for March 2026.
The last time PlayStation Plus Premium added two classic games in a single month was August 2025, with the addition of the original Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3. Since then, subscribers have received just one classic game each month. Here’s a list of those games:
- September 2025
- Legacy of Kain: Defiance (PS2)
- October 2025
- Tekken 3 (PS1)
- November 2025
- Tomb Raider: Anniversary (PS2)
- December 2025
- SoulCalibur III (PS2)
- January 2026
- Ridge Racer (PS1)
- February 2026
- Disney Pixar WALL-E (PS2)
- March 2026
- Tekken: Dark Resurrection (PSP)
Prior to August 2025, PlayStation Plus Premium typically received one new game each month, though these were often followed by months with more additions, like March 2025, which included three Armored Core games and a game for PSVR2.
PlayStation Plus Premium members haven’t had a new feature like this to get excited about in over a year.
Our guide to all PlayStation Plus games shows the service now has a good selection of older titles, giving new subscribers plenty to play. But if you’ve been a member for a while and have already enjoyed those classic games, the new games added each month are really the only reason to pay for the most expensive PS Plus subscription.
Let’s look at the differences between PS Plus Premium and the PS Plus Extra tier to help you decide which one is right for you.
A 12-month subscription to PlayStation Plus Extra costs £99.99 or $134.99. PlayStation Plus Premium is £119.99 or $159.99 for the year. Upgrading to Premium costs an extra £20 or $25 annually, which is about £1.60 or $2 each month.
Although many PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers primarily join for the retro games, Sony also highlights the service’s offering of free, limited-time trials for a wide selection of newer PS5 and PS4 titles.
Currently, Sony plans to release 12 classic PlayStation games over the next year as part of a new offering that costs an additional £20 or $25 on top of the existing PS Plus Extra subscription. This might not feel like the best value, considering they’ve previously released several classic games in a single batch.
