The PlayStation Store has been steadily improving since the PS5 launched, and a new update is now available to help you make smarter buying decisions.
As a PlayStation fan, I just noticed a really cool update! Sony is now showing the original launch price of games right on their PlayStation Store pages. It’s great to be able to see how much a game cost when it first came out, especially when it’s on sale now. They’re rolling this out to everyone worldwide as we speak!
Right now, The Last of Us: Part I is on sale for £31.49. You’ll also see the original price it launched at – £69.99 – listed above the sale price.
If you select a game on the PlayStation Store, it will show you the original price it launched at – and that price will stay the same for at least the first month it’s available.
On the PlayStation Store, you’ll now see the lowest price a game has been offered for in the past 30 days, displayed below its current price. This feature was added in October of last year.
This change makes the PlayStation Store more open and honest for shoppers. We think it’s likely a legal requirement in some regions, which explains why it was just added, but we’re glad to see it anyway.
Honestly, the PlayStation Store still feels a bit basic compared to sites like PSPrices and DekuDeals. Those sites are awesome because they show you things like Metacritic scores and the absolute lowest price a game has ever been. The PS Store is getting better, though, so that’s good to see!
