PlayStation Plus Premium is gaining popularity among PS5 users, and one recent addition is a big reason why. PS Plus Premium is Sony’s most expensive subscription level, and it’s the only one that lets you play classic games from the original PlayStation, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, and even PSP. While the subscription also offers benefits like game trials, the biggest draw for many is the access to these retro titles.
Recently, players on the PlayStation Plus Reddit page have been especially excited about the addition of Tomb Raider: Anniversary, a game originally released for the PS2 in 2007. While it later became available on other platforms, it first launched as a PS2 exclusive. This game is the eighth installment in the Tomb Raider series and the second in the Legend trilogy. Essentially, it’s a fresh take on the very first Tomb Raider game from 1996. It was well-received when it came out – earning an 81 on GameRankings in 2007 – and continues to be popular with PS Plus subscribers even today.
“This Looks Amazing on PS5”
I was scrolling through the PlayStation Plus subreddit and saw this post that was getting a ton of love. It was basically just someone hyping up a PS2 game, talking about how amazing the levels are and how tough but good the puzzles are. It quickly shot to the top, which made me think a lot of other people feel the same way. And yeah, checking the comments confirmed it – everyone seems to agree it’s a really great game!

One popular comment simply said, “This looks amazing on PS5.” Another player pointed out that the middle three Tomb Raider games don’t get enough credit.
One commenter shared their long-standing love for the game, recalling enjoying it on the original PlayStation in 1996, the 2006 remake, and again with their kids in 2020. They’re now excited about the newest version and describe it as ideal for those who enjoy exploring, solving puzzles, and experiencing a truly epic adventure.
The PS2 version now on PS Plus Premium isn’t just a straight port of the 2007 original. It includes features like Trophies, improved graphics, a rewind function, and video filters – none of which were in the original release. And if this game isn’t for you, don’t worry! It’s just one of several PS2 titles recently added to the PlayStation Store. Another game, released just last week, is already receiving perfect reviews from players.
While many games are only available through PlayStation Plus Premium, Tomb Raider: Anniversary can also be bought separately on the PlayStation Store. It costs $20 if you don’t have the subscription or want to keep playing after your subscription ends.
