PS3 Game Streaming Still Broken and Sony Draws Criticism

Some PlayStation users are wondering if Sony is secretly ending its streaming library of PS3 games on PS Plus Premium. This speculation comes after problems with the feature have persisted for over a week.

Users on the PS Plus Reddit page are pointing out that streaming classic PS3 games is still glitchy. Many are reporting errors or no response when trying to play these titles. For example, one user said that when they tried to start Raiden IV: OverKill, the game simply wouldn’t launch.

One player reported being able to stream and play Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles on PS3 using a known fix, but that solution stopped working. They expressed frustration, stating that Sony should face criticism because a key benefit of the Premium subscription is access to older games through streaming.

Some users have found temporary fixes, like adding PS3 games to their wishlist and starting the stream from there, or using the PS Plus PC app to add them to their library. However, even these solutions are now starting to fail for many people.

Users first reported these issues over a week ago, but Sony hasn’t yet released an official statement about them or provided a timeline for a fix. This silence has caused some PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers to worry that the service might be discontinued.

For almost a year, the most expensive PlayStation Plus subscription tier, Premium, has been criticized for receiving very few new games each month – often just one. Now, with a major feature currently not working, many subscribers are likely to cancel their Premium memberships and switch to a lower tier.
