PS3 RPG Remaster Releases on PlayStation Store And It’s a Huge Hit With PS5 Users

A remastered version of a role-playing game originally released on the PS3 is now available on the PlayStation Store and is proving very popular with PS5 and PS5 Pro owners. While exact sales figures are unknown, the game currently boasts a near-perfect user review score of 4.93 out of 5, based on 124 reviews. This makes it the highest-rated new game on the PS Store, and fans of the 2013 title are clearly enjoying the chance to play it again on their PS5.

Bandai Namco’s RPG Tales of Xillia is back in 2025 as Tales of Xillia Remastered, available on the PlayStation Store for $39.99. However, players with a PS5 Pro won’t find any special improvements for the upgraded console.

About the Game

So, the first Tales of Xillia actually came out way back in 2011, but only in Japan for the PS3. We didn’t get it over here until 2013. And honestly, it’s stayed a PS3 exclusive – it never made its way to any other consoles. It’s the 13th game in the Tales series, which is huge, but the cool thing is it’s totally self-contained. You don’t need to have played any of the other twelve games to understand what’s going on – it’s a fresh start, which is awesome!

When the game first launched, it received a Metacritic score of 78 – a respectable number, but not high enough to be considered among the year’s best. Despite this, it performed well, both in terms of sales and overall, and was one of the few games in the series to receive a follow-up, Tales of Xillia 2, which was released in 2014. However, the sequel is currently only available on the PlayStation 3.

The remastered version of the game is available on multiple platforms and includes all previously released downloadable content. It also features enhanced graphics, an automatic save system, and the option to skip battles, along with other helpful improvements. However, it’s important to remember this isn’t a complete rebuild of the game; it still retains the feel of an RPG from the early 2010s.

If you’re not excited about this PS3 game’s return, don’t worry – it’s not the only one! Another PS3 title from 2011 recently became available on PS4 and PS5. With game development becoming more expensive and the gaming market changing, many companies are now choosing to revisit older games instead of creating entirely new ones. This means we can anticipate a lot more remastered games like these in the future.
