PS5 Animal Crossing Clones Are Now Just Blatant Rip-Offs of the Nintendo Series

Would you be surprised to learn that the main picture in this article is actually a screenshot from the game Animal Crossing: New Horizons?

You might think this is a joke, but it’s real! Anime Village Online is a game you can add to your wishlist on the PlayStation Store now, and it’s planned to be released in 2027.

Anime Village Online is a relaxing life simulation game where you can build and customize your own village and home. You can enjoy a peaceful experience either by playing alone or with friends online.

Some games try to copy the feeling of Animal Crossing, but this one just feels like a lesser imitation of the original.

The PlayStation Store page describes a game where you can build and customize your own cozy home, making furniture, farming, and fishing to create the perfect space. You’ll also be able to explore lovely outdoor areas like forests, rivers, and beaches, gathering materials, meeting villagers, and unlocking new content as you progress. The game will support playing alone, with friends in co-op mode, and even includes voice chat – assuming it’s eventually released.

Animal Crossing is a proven hit, with New Horizons being a massive success on the Nintendo Switch. While other similar games on PS5, like Floatopia and Hello Kitty Island Adventure, tried to offer something unique with their own styles, Anime Village Online simply copies the Animal Crossing formula without adding anything new.
