PS5 Beta System Update Allows DualSense to be Paired With Multiple Devices Simultaneously

Sony is planning to launch a system update for the PS5, which will be available to members of the beta program starting tomorrow. This update includes an exciting new feature – the ability to connect the DualSense controller with multiple devices.

With this update, you can connect both the DualSense wireless controller and the DualSense Edge wireless controller to multiple devices at once. It doesn’t matter if those devices are a PlayStation 5, a smartphone, or even a Windows or Mac computer. This means that users of the DualSense controller won’t have to disconnect it from their PC in order to use it with their PS5, for instance.

The executive from Sony Interactive Entertainment mentioned that several accessories for the PS5, such as the DualSense wireless controller, can be used on other devices like PCs, Macs, and mobile phones, in addition to the PS5. This move aims to provide a more adaptable and smooth gaming experience by making our accessories compatible across various platforms.

After the update is deployed, users will have the capability to register as many as four devices concurrently with a single controller. This means they can easily switch between gaming on a PS5 and a PC directly from the controller itself, ensuring a smooth shift in gameplay experience. Additionally, this multi-device function can be combined with Remote Play, enabling users to stream PS5 games onto their PC without needing to reconnect the controller each time.

As a fan, I’ve discovered that once my device is connected to a DualSense controller, it gets assigned to one out of four available slots. To switch between these slots, I can use different combinations of the PlayStation (PS) button and the face buttons. For instance, to access slot 1, I simply press the PS button along with the Triangle button, while slot 2 is accessible by pressing the PS button together with the Circle button, and so forth. This way, I can easily manage my devices using these simple key combinations.

The controller’s player indicator lights will show you which pairing slot is being utilized at the moment. A single light indicates that the first slot is being used, while three lights mean that slot number 3 is currently active.

In addition, Sony has disclosed that they are developing a novel Power Saver mode for the PS5 console, intended for games. This feature is scheduled for an upcoming update, enabling compatible games to operate at reduced power consumption rates. Further information about the Power Saver mode will be shared at a future time.

A peek at the Power Saver mode, which isn’t available right now, can be found in the settings menu. Once released, this feature will adjust the performance of compatible games to lower overall power usage on the PS5. However, it’s important to mention that only games designed to work with this feature will experience reduced power consumption; games not supporting this feature won’t see any power reduction or performance penalties.

Further information regarding the suitable games on the list and the anticipated release date will be disclosed at a later time.
