The new PS5 game, Cairn, which focuses on mountaineering, has had a successful launch, selling over 200,000 copies in its first week, according to its developer, The Game Bakers.
The team announced on January 29, 2026, that they had reached a major milestone in just four days. They celebrated welcoming 200,000 climbers to the mountain over the weekend, sharing the news on Bluesky and expressing their excitement.
In our review of Cairn for PlayStation 5, we called it an excellent climbing simulator that gives you a whole mountain to explore with complete freedom. It includes some simple survival elements that add a bit of challenge, and its deliberate slow pace makes you think carefully about each climb and plan your route. However, the PS5 version has occasional performance issues, so the PC version seems like the better option.
