We’ve been critical of the early access bonuses offered for PS5 pre-orders on Push Square, and the latest one for Control Resonant feels particularly disappointing.
The highly anticipated PlayStation 5 sequel was officially announced at State of Play with a release date of September 24, 2026. Players who pre-order the Digital Deluxe Edition will receive early access, starting on September 22nd – two days before the official launch.
It’s common to offer bonuses for pre-ordering games, but this one is a bit strange. Pre-ordering Control Resonant unlocks early access, but only on PlayStation 5 – it won’t be available for PC or Xbox players until two days later. This essentially makes the game a PS5 exclusive for a short period due to the pre-order incentive.

If you’re thinking of buying Control Resonant on PS5, this is a nice perk. However, it’s a little disappointing and shows how pre-order bonuses are becoming more common. Basically, if you pre-order on PS5, you’ll get to play it a bit earlier than everyone else.
Thomas Puha, the communications director, confirmed on social media that the pre-order deal is only available on PlayStation 5.
Owners of Control Resonant on Xbox Series X|S might be disappointed to learn that the Digital Deluxe Edition costs the same as the PlayStation 5 version, despite offering less. Both editions are priced at £59.99 / $69.99, but the PS5 version includes 48 hours of early access, making it a better deal.
Control Resonant looks like it will be a great game when it launches in September, but the pre-order bonus feels a bit unnecessary. It’s only available on PlayStation 5 if you pre-order, which seems like a strange incentive. Let’s hope for something more exciting in the future.
Giving players a few extra days to play Control Resonant through early access might help ease the pressure on the game’s official launch in September 2026. That’s because it’s releasing very close to two other major titles: Silent Hill: Townfall on the same day, and Onimusha: Way of the Sword just a day earlier.
