PS5 Exclusive Announced as First Free PlayStation Plus Day One Game of 2026

PlayStation Plus has announced its first free game for 2026, a title exclusive to the PS5. While a specific release date isn’t available yet, it’s expected to launch this year. Unlike Xbox Game Pass, which offers many day-one games but costs $30 a month, this PlayStation Plus game will be available to all subscribers – those with Essential, Extra, or Premium plans. PS Plus Essential, the most basic tier, costs just $6.66 a month if you pay for a year upfront, or $9.99 for a monthly subscription.

All PlayStation Plus members – whether they have Essential, Extra, or Premium – will be able to download Big Walk as part of the Monthly Games lineup this year. Originally announced for PC in 2023, Big Walk is a co-op adventure game that’s now coming to PS5 and will be available to PlayStation Plus members on day one.

Big Walk is a game focused on cooperation and communication. Players explore a large, open world together, tackling challenges, solving puzzles, and making discoveries. While the main goal isn’t immediately clear, the sense of mystery seems to be a key part of the experience.

Many PlayStation 5 players might not be familiar with Big Walk, but they may recognize the game’s developer, House House. They previously created Untitled Goose Game in 2019, which was a big success, selling over a million copies and receiving two nominations at The Game Awards. Before that, the Australian studio started with Push Me Pull You in 2016. Push Me Pull You received a score of 75 on Metacritic, while Untitled Goose Game scored an 81. Considering these scores, it’s reasonable to expect Big Walk to receive a similar rating, likely in the upper 70s or low 80s.

The price of Big Walk hasn’t been announced yet, so we don’t know how much PlayStation Plus members will save. The studio’s past games cost between $15 and $20, so a similar price is likely, though it could be a little higher since this is their biggest project so far. A price of $25 or $30 seems reasonable.
