Update [Sun 27th Jul 2025, 6pm]: Highly connected individual Shinobi602 commented that PS5 enthusiasts seem overly excited about a job posting suggesting Sony could potentially expand the availability of its first-party games to Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
Through a few lighthearted comments, the acknowledged expert in the field implied that Sony isn’t planning on altering its long-standing successful approach, but rather expanding the number of their live service triumphs to various platforms. He hinted that we might witness additional experimental launches like LEGO Horizon Adventures on the Switch, where it would be fitting.

It’s been confirmed that a 2.5D variant of God of War is being worked on, and there’s a possibility it might be unveiled for Nintendo’s platform. However, it’s unlikely we’ll see the current God of War Ragnarok game ported to other consoles at this stage.
Although Sony is usually silent about rumors and conjecture, the head of PlayStation Studios, Hermen Hulst, recently stated in an investor video that they must be cautious when deciding where to release their exclusive games, to avoid diluting the allure of their own hardware by over-distributing.
Could we be seeing the demise of console exclusivity altogether? Maybe not for Nintendo, but Sony seems to be on the hunt for a high-ranking executive to guide their shifting and versatile multi-platform approach.
There’s an opportunity available at our headquarters in San Mateo for a director role, tasked with guiding PlayStation as they delve into the development of systems beyond the PS5.
The statement clearly indicates that the chosen applicants will be tasked with enhancing the profitability of titles on various digital platforms beyond PlayStation. These include Steam, Epic Games Store, Xbox, Nintendo, and mobile devices.
Here’s the specification in full:
As the Senior Director of Multiplatform & Account Management, you will be reporting directly to the Vice President of Commercial Management. In this role, you will have a significant leadership part in designing and implementing the global commercial strategy for PS Studios software titles on various digital platforms outside PlayStation hardware, such as Steam, Epic Games Store, Xbox, Nintendo, and mobile devices. Your responsibilities will include maximizing title profitability, ensuring team alignment across functions, and managing a top-performing team dedicated to expanding our presence on multiple platforms, planning mid-range commercial strategies, and managing relationships with platform partners.
Later on, it is mentioned that essential duties involve managing the mid-tier business strategy for PlayStation Studio games on platforms other than PlayStation, with a focus on boosting long-term income and broadening the audience base.
This position requires building and nurturing partnerships with competitors such as Xbox and Nintendo. The goal is to foster strong cooperation, maximize promotional impact, and optimize performance.
This job includes developing good relationships with our main competitors (Xbox and Nintendo). The aim is to work together closely, make our promotions more effective, and improve overall performance.
At this point, Sony has mostly moved away from strictly offering PS5 exclusivity for most of its games, instead choosing to make them available on PC as well. Additionally, they’ve released LEGO Horizon Adventures on the Nintendo Switch, and have announced plans to port Helldivers 2 to the Xbox Series X|S.
In a recent interview, the head of PS Studios, Hermen Hulst, mentioned that it’s crucial for Sony to be careful when taking their franchises outside of console platforms, as they want to prevent any potential negative impact on their existing gaming environment.
A significant number of PS5 users express disappointment because they believe the console hasn’t met their expectations fully. This dissatisfaction stems mainly from the limited availability of unique games for the system and the extended period it has taken to develop new titles.
In essence, the job advertisement might not indicate an immediate shift in their existing approach. Instead, it’s possible that Sony is merely planning to stick with their current tactics for the time being.
However, as more and more games are appearing on competing consoles and PC versions are popping up at a rapid pace, it seems that we’re moving towards a point where titles from PlayStation Studios may eventually become available across multiple platforms.
It’s yet unclear how this applies specifically to PlayStation, and moreover, we don’t know yet how well the PS6 will be received by gamers.
