PS5 Firmware Update Out Now, Brings Power Saver Mode, DualSense Controller Pairing

As of Wednesday, September 17th, 2025, at 8:15 AM, a new software update for the PlayStation 5 is being released. The update is identified as version 25.06-12.00.00.

It might take a while for this to become available everywhere, so don’t worry if you haven’t gotten access yet.

This update is about 1.3GB in size. If your console is in Rest Mode with automatic downloads enabled, it should update on its own.

You can find out more about it in the original article embedded below.

Sony announced that the new PS5 system update, which includes the DualSense controller pairing feature they’ve been testing, will be released to all players tomorrow.

The new PS5 update won’t download automatically; you’ll need to install it yourself through the Settings menu, according to Sony. This update includes a Power Saver mode that reduces energy use by slightly lowering performance. There’s speculation that this mode is being added now to prepare for compatibility with a future handheld PS6 device.

To activate Power Saver mode, follow these instructions once you’ve downloaded the PS5 patch:

  1. Go to Settings > System.
  2. Select Power Saving > Power Saver for Games.
  3. Turn on Use Power Saver and select which games you want to play using power saver.

Sony announced that future updates to both Death Stranding 2: On the Beach and Ghost of Yotei will include support for Power Saver mode, helping players conserve battery life.
