Users of the PS5 Pro have been pleasantly surprised by a rather uncommon game release. When Sony initially announced the PS5 Pro, they touted its capability for 8K gaming, an aspect that left many questioning. And indeed, skepticism seems to be validated, as there are merely four PlayStation 5 games currently offering 8K gaming on the PS5 Pro: Gran Turismo 7, No Man’s Sky, F1 24, and The Touryst. However, it is expected that this list will soon grow to five games.
The game in discussion, the upcoming PS5 Pro 8K title, is a follow-up from VooFoo Studios and Ripstone, creators of Pure Pool. If you’re familiar with this name, it’s because they’ve been active for quite some time. Originally released as an exclusive for the PS4 console in July of 2014, it later became available on PC. By the end of that year, it made its way to Xbox One. In 2020, it found a home on Nintendo Switch too.
As a gamer excitedly looking forward to the release of Pure Pool Pro, I can’t help but feel my anticipation grow as I learn about its impressive specifications. This year, it will grace the PS5 Pro with an 8K resolution at a smooth 60 frames per second, outperforming even the base version on the PS5 which runs the game at a staggering 4K and 120 FPS. What sets Pure Pool Pro apart is its ability to achieve these high resolutions natively, without relying on the PS5 Pro’s AI upscaling tech.
However, it’s important to remember that this is what we’re being told. The game isn’t available yet, so we’ll have to wait and see if VooFoo Studios and Ripstone can truly deliver on these promises. While many games struggle to reach such high resolutions, Pure Pool Pro has a significant advantage due to its relatively simple graphics compared to most games. Fingers crossed that they manage to live up to the hype!
The planned launch for Pure Pool Pro is expected sometime this year, but we don’t yet have an exact date confirmed. We might find out the release date soon, considering there aren’t many months left in 2025, unless it will be released quickly after announcement or even unexpectedly.
