It’s officially verified that Mafia: The Old Country, developed by 2K and Hangar 13, will indeed feature PlayStation 5 Pro compatibility upon its release this coming Friday.
According to the title’s social media post, the anticipated PS5 Pro promises enhanced dynamic resolution in both Quality and Performance settings, Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) compatibility, and the ability to display content at a fast 120Hz refresh rate on compatible TVs.
So far, the trailers for the game have been recorded using a PS5 Pro console, but it wasn’t entirely clear whether the enhanced version of the PS5 offered any tangible advantages compared to the standard one. However, with the upcoming release date of 8th August, we now have a better understanding of what to expect.
Previously, it was confirmed on the standard PS5 that Performance Mode operates at an average of 60fps, implying potential frame rate fluctuations. However, the upcoming PS5 Pro is expected to eliminate these inconsistencies and potentially boost the resolution, as suggested in the tweet. Now, the PS Store pre-order page also features a “PS5 Pro Enhanced” tag.
