These new retro-themed releases don’t always need to go so darn hard, but we love it when they do.
Upcoming game Neon Inferno, set to release on October 2nd for both PS5 and PS4, bears a resemblance to the timeless SNES title Wild Guns. The action unfolds with your character in view, as you blast away at oversized enemies.
Clearly, it leans more towards the futuristic noir of Blade Runner rather than the Wild West, given that the setting is New York City in 2055, a metropolis said to be beyond redemption.

Here’s the blurb from the game’s official website:
Neon Inferno is a unique blend of side-scrolling and gallery-shooter games. Set in a dystopian future New York City, you join the fight as an assassin for the Family, a powerful crime syndicate aiming to take control by eliminating their rivals across the urban battlefield. With stunning pixel art visuals and a captivating soundtrack, Neon Inferno offers a sleek, contemporary 2D action game experience with a touch of cyberpunk style.
In the trailer, there’s an interesting feature showcased: One character skillfully deflects incoming attacks from enemies, then redirects them, effectively reversing the situation.
As a passionate admirer, I can’t help but express my strong admiration for this impressive visual! If you share my sentiment, you have the opportunity to acquire a free poster directly from the game’s official site. Please note that shipping costs will be your responsibility, but let’s face it, it’s still quite generous of the developers, don’t you think?
