Sony’s PlayStation Network continues to grow, with more people playing on both PS5 and PS4 each month compared to last year. The latest financial report shows a steady increase in monthly active users.
So, I checked out the latest numbers for PlayStation Network, and during April to June of this year, about 119 million people were playing online every month. That’s actually up three million from this time last year, which is cool. It’s a little lower than earlier this year – we saw 123 million players in the first quarter – but if you look at the bigger picture over the last few years, the number of players is definitely still growing overall.
Sony’s number of active players reached 102 million in the second quarter of fiscal year 2022, and grew to 107 million in the same quarter of fiscal year 2023. They are now watching the third and fourth quarters of the current year to see if this growth continues. In the third quarter of fiscal year 2024, Sony reported a significant jump to 129 million active players.
Sony announced in its recent financial report that they’ve sold 84.2 million PlayStation 5 consoles. Their newest exclusive game, Ghost of Yotei, has sold 3.3 million copies so far.
