PS5 Reportedly Hands Forza Horizon 5 an Additional 5 Million Sales

According to a report from Alinea Analytics, Forza Horizon 5 on PlayStation 5 has surpassed five million units sold and generated over $300 million in revenue for Microsoft since its release in April 2025.

Alinea Analytics reports that Forza Horizon 5 has now sold over 5 million copies on PlayStation 5, generating more than $300 million in revenue for Microsoft from a game that originally launched four years ago, according to a recent social media post by Rhys Elliott of the analytics firm.

The most recent official sales figures for Forza Horizon 5, focusing on the PlayStation 5 version, were released in July 2025, shortly after it launched on PS5. At that time, Microsoft reported two million copies sold within the first month, and everything we’ve heard since suggests the PS5 port has been very successful.

The company doesn’t release official sales figures, so it’s hard to know how Alinea Analytics arrives at its estimates. However, if the reported total for Forza Horizon 5 is correct, it represents a significant achievement for Microsoft.

Playground Games is developing Forza Horizon 6, and it’s confirmed to be coming to PS5. However, PlayStation fans will have to wait a bit, as the game will launch on Xbox Series X|S and PC first.

The upcoming open world racing game will be a major focus of the next Xbox Developer Direct on January 22, 2026, alongside updates on Fable and Beast of Reincarnation. We’ll get a much deeper look at the racing game during the presentation, and there’s also a possibility we’ll hear about a PlayStation 5 version of Fable. According to VGC’s Andy Robinson, a PS5 port of Fable is currently being developed.
