PS5 Sci-Fi Action RPG SOL Shogunate Is Samurai in Space, and It Looks Awesome

SOL Shogunate is coming to PS5, and early looks suggest it’s a fantastic, over-the-top gaming experience.

Chaos Manufacturing, an independent game studio, is currently working on a single-player sci-fi action RPG where players take on the role of samurai in space.

The game takes place in a future where humans have colonized multiple planets, all governed by a strong Shogunate.

You take on the role of Yuzuki, a former samurai whose family was brutally killed by enemies. Now a lone wanderer, she seeks revenge and to bring those responsible to justice.

The game appears to be largely set on the moon, featuring expansive cities for players to discover. While standard gravity will apply in public areas, the game will introduce varying gravity levels as you explore different locations.

According to the PlayStation Blog, the combat in SOL Shogunate focuses on being accurate, well-timed, and flexible. You’ll play as a genetically engineered samurai warrior, blending traditional weapons and skills with futuristic technology and tools.

Players use different kinds of energy in attacks to find enemy weaknesses, disrupt them, and open up new ways to fight. As the player character gets stronger and gains new abilities, combat changes, allowing them to defeat tougher enemies.

One thing the developers are really focusing on is the music. They want to make sure all the big fights and action scenes have incredible tracks that just make everything feel even more epic. It’s all about boosting the experience, and a great soundtrack is key to that, in my opinion.

The team is collaborating with artists, including the Japanese band AliA, to produce original music.

Things are looking good on our end. We don’t have a release date for the game yet, but we’re hoping it will be available soon.
