Okay, so Pragmata, the PS5 shooter everyone’s hyped about? What really grabbed me is how it makes you play with two characters, Hugh and Diana, at the same time. It’s like trying to do two different things at once – seriously, it’s a really unique and kinda mind-bending idea!
If you’re unfamiliar, this game is primarily a classic third-person shooter set in space. However, it has a unique mechanic: whenever you target an enemy, you’ll solve a quick puzzle to weaken their defenses before you can attack.
The system could realistically function well in a one-on-one match. In fact, Capcom explored this possibility, as reported by Automaton.

Speaking at a media event in Japan, producer Naoto Oyama explained:
We thought about having two players, but we really wanted Pragmata to offer a unique way to play. We decided to focus on the excitement of having a single player handle both the action and the puzzles at the same time, and that’s how the game ended up being designed.
Most people seem to enjoy the game because it requires juggling a lot of different things at once, so we’re happy the creator chose to focus on that instead of trying to include a two-player mode. They could always add that in later as an extra feature, though!
We’ve played Pragmata several times now, and we come away impressed every single time.
At the recent Tokyo Game Show, we showcased the Shelter – a hub where players can improve their characters and create new items. Development is progressing really well, and everything is starting to feel cohesive.
We think this will be a standout release of 2026, so be sure to add it to your wishlist now!
