Naughty Dog is actively working on their upcoming action adventure game, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, and development appears to be progressing well.
When the new sci-fi game was revealed at The Game Awards 2024, there was no mention of when players could expect it, leaving its release date uncertain.
Interestingly, the studio has recently posted several job openings focused on quality assurance and adapting the game for different regions. These positions typically appear near the very end of the development process.
Naturally, these job postings have appeared on social media, leading people to believe that Intergalactic is close to being finished – and maybe even further along in development than previously known.
We can see the logic, even if it does seem a little bit of a stretch.
As a big PlayStation fan, I’ve been thinking about how Sony shows off its new games lately, and honestly, it’s a key thing they need to get right. It’s really about their whole strategy for announcing and promoting what’s coming up – that’s what I’m focused on.
Lately, PlayStation’s been doing things differently. They used to announce games way ahead of time, but now it feels like they’re holding back and only showing us what’s coming out pretty close to the release date. As a gamer, it’s a bit of a shift from how they used to operate!
Games such as Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Marvel’s Wolverine were revealed to the public before this new trend started. However, Ghost of Yotei came out only a little over a year after its initial announcement, and we expect Saros to follow a similar timeline.
Sony has announced release dates for two games: Saros, coming in March 2026, and Marvel’s Wolverine, which will be available in Fall 2026.
Considering Sony’s release schedule for its own games, it seems likely that Intergalactic won’t come out until 2027.
This might not follow our usual practice of announcing things only when they’re nearly finished, but this is Naughty Dog – a studio known for taking their time and striving for perfection.
Now that the game is entering quality assurance and localization, the team will likely spend a long time refining it to make sure it’s perfect, and that process could easily extend into the following year.
It’s always fun to consider possibilities like these, and you never know – Intergalactic might actually happen before we expect.
