PS5’s New Power Saver Feature Confirms Its First Supported Games

You may recall PS5’s new Power Saver feature, announced as a new option for Sony’s console.

This feature will be added with a software update releasing this week, as we previously mentioned.

We now know the first three games that will work with the new technology: Demon’s Souls, Ghost of Yotei, and Death Stranding 2: On the Beach.

Each of these games will receive updates to add this feature. You’ll also need to turn on Power Saving mode in your system settings for it to work.

You can do that by following these three steps, once you’ve installed the update:

  • Go to Settings > System
  • Select Power Saving > Power Saver for Games
  • Turn on Use Power Saver and select which games you want to play using power saver

I’m still trying to figure out exactly what Power Saver will *do* to my gaming, but Sony says it’s going to limit how hard the console works to use less power. Basically, I’m expecting things to run a little slower and maybe look a bit less sharp – kind of like when you switch your phone to battery saving mode. It’s a trade-off, I guess!

It’s noteworthy that while PlayStation promotes its Power Saver mode as an environmentally friendly step, some believe it might actually be a component of their plans for a potential new handheld gaming device.

For a while now, people have been discussing the possibility of Sony creating a PS5 mode that uses less processing power, letting it run games on less powerful hardware. The new Power Saver mode essentially does just that.

We’re eager to see how well these three games run with this feature turned on, as it might give us an idea of what to expect from Sony’s upcoming handheld device.
