PS6 Manufacturing Scheduled to Get Underway in Early 2027

Sony will begin manufacturing PS6 in early 2027, ahead of a launch later in the year.

According to hardware leaker Moore’s Law Is Dead, documents they’ve seen reveal the exact date the console will begin production.

Okay, so this YouTuber hasn’t actually *shown* the documents, which makes sense, but he’s been right about PlayStation’s plans before. I’m talking about stuff like what they were going to do with the PS5 Pro – he called that one correctly, and he’s had accurate leaks in the past, so I tend to believe him.

According to recent reports from hardware leaker KeplerL2, Sony is aiming to release the PlayStation 6 in 2027. To have enough consoles available, production would need to begin several months prior to the launch date.

Here’s what MLID said in a podcast with Sacred Symbols host Dustin Furman:

I’ve seen actual documents that suggest they’re already gearing up to make the PS6 around mid-to-early 2027. Seriously, they’ve been planning this stuff out for at least two years now. It’s wild to think about!

Although nothing is confirmed yet and plans could still shift, it’s looking more and more likely that Sony is targeting a 2027 release for its next PlayStation console.

This follows the pattern of the PlayStation 4, which came out in 2013 and was succeeded by the PlayStation 5 in 2020.

Although people are starting to question if a PlayStation 6 is necessary, Sony will likely try to ensure a smooth launch with plenty of consoles available, avoiding the shortages that happened with the PS5.

A lot of the initial issues stemmed from the global situation, as the system released right when the pandemic was at its peak. However, the Switch 2 had a remarkably successful launch, largely because there were plenty of units available, and we believe Sony will try to achieve the same thing.

Starting production of these consoles sooner rather than later will allow the company to build up a good supply. Currently, it seems their goal is to begin manufacturing in early 2027.

MLID briefly mentioned the console’s potential price in his video. While much of his discussion is based on his informed guesses, he believes the company’s hardware decisions – like making the console smaller and needing less cooling – will likely help keep the price down.

He acknowledged that things like inflation could affect their plans, but he’s confident the PS6 will be less expensive when it releases than the PS5 Pro, even though it’s expected to be much more powerful.
