A Square Enix game originally released for PS4 is currently available for free on both PS4 and PS5 due to a strange glitch with PlayStation Network and PlayStation Plus. It’s unclear how long this error will last or if Sony will allow players to keep the game if they download it now. However, since the game is relatively short, you might be able to finish it before Sony fixes the issue.
A Reddit user on the PlayStation Plus forum recently discovered that Life is Strange 2 is now completely free to play on PlayStation, even without a purchase. The user, who previously played the game through PlayStation Plus Extra or Premium, noticed the first episode was still listed in their library, along with all the DLC they’d purchased. This allows them to play the entire game for free, and other PlayStation Plus subscribers have confirmed they’re experiencing the same thing.
2018 Square Enix Game
If you haven’t heard of it, Life is Strange 2 is a story-driven adventure game where your choices change the plot and how it ends. It’s a follow-up to the 2015 game Life Is Strange, but it tells a new story with new characters. You don’t need to have played the original game to enjoy this one.
Throughout its run, Life Is Strange 2 received scores in the 70s and 80s on Metacritic and was nominated for the Games For Impact award at The Game Awards.
The game is fairly short, taking roughly 15 to 20 hours to complete. This means it’s possible to finish it within a week, before the current bug is patched and Sony removes the game from download.
As of right now, PlayStation and Square Enix haven’t said anything about this issue. It’s likely they don’t even know about it yet, as the glitch hasn’t been widely reported. We’ll share any official statements we receive. In the meantime, let us know your thoughts in the comments below or join the discussion on the ComicBook Forum.
