PSN Services Stabilise After Global AWS Outage Caused Chaos Around the World

Good news! After an AWS outage caused problems for players worldwide, everything should be back to normal now. This update is from Tuesday, October 21st, 2025, at 7:30am.

The PlayStation Network generally stayed stable, but some players started experiencing minor issues early on October 20th.

To make matters worse, the disruption affected many different games, such as Gran Turismo 7, Genshin Impact, and titles from Ubisoft.

Things seem to be back to normal now, thankfully! But this whole situation really made me think about how much we depend on the internet for everything, and it’s a bit scary when those services aren’t working. It’s a good reminder to be prepared, just in case!

As of Monday, October 20th, 2025, at 6:45 PM, some services previously affected by the AWS outage are now working again, but others are still experiencing issues.

Ubisoft servers experienced issues, causing problems with some of their games and features, including The Division 2 and Rainbow Six Siege.

More and more PlayStation Network users are reporting problems, despite Sony’s official status page showing no issues.

The issues are likely to last for several more hours. While your experience might be different, you could encounter problems playing some games.

Update #1 [Mon Oct 20, 2025, 1pm]: The problems with AWS are starting to get better, and fewer PlayStation Network (PSN) users are currently experiencing issues.

Gran Turismo 7 also experienced problems due to the recent outages, but is expected to be back up and running soon.

Everything should be back to normal in a few hours, but this situation has reminded us how much we depend on these servers.

Original Story: If you’re having issues connecting to PSN right now, you’re not alone.

A current problem with Amazon Web Services (AWS) is affecting many online services, including Sony’s gaming network.

Our connection seems a bit unreliable right now. We’ve noticed a lot more people reporting outages in our area over the last couple of hours, according to DownDetector.

PlayStation’s network doesn’t appear to be having any problems, but several games, including Fortnite and Roblox, are currently experiencing issues.

Considering how widespread and disruptive this outage is, we’d anticipate a fairly quick fix. However, as we noted before, your experience might be different.

This isn’t limited to PlayStation Network; apps for banking, social media, and messaging are also vulnerable.

You may just have to take a trip to the Winchester and ride this one out, folks.
