The acting community is mourning one of their own.
It’s with a heavy heart that I share the news of Peter Greene’s passing. Many of you will recognize him as a fantastic character actor, bringing memorable villains to life in films like Pulp Fiction and The Mask. His manager, Greg Edwards, confirmed he was found at his home in New York City on December 12th. He was 60 years old, and will be deeply missed by those who appreciated his work.
While the cause of death hasn’t been released, actor Michael Greene, known for his role in Beggarman, was found dead in his New York City apartment after police conducted a welfare check. Officers were alerted when music could be heard playing from his apartment for more than a day. According to a friend, Edwards, he had spoken with Greene earlier in the week.
Despite being famous for playing intense and frightening characters – like the abusive Zed in Quentin Tarantino’s 1994 film Pulp Fiction, alongside Uma Thurman and Samuel L. Jackson – Edwards will always remember Greene as a kind and gentle person behind the scenes.
Edwards praised Peter, saying he was unmatched at playing villains. However, Edwards also noted that Peter had a kind, sensitive side that few people knew, and a truly generous spirit.
Originally from New Jersey, actor John Greene first appeared in the 1990 crime drama Hardball, but he soon became known for playing memorable villains. He also took on leading roles, such as in the 1993 film Clean, Shave, where he portrayed a murder suspect with schizophrenia. Throughout his career, Greene delivered strong performances in films like Kiss & Tell, The Usual Suspects, and Training Day, where he acted alongside Denzel Washington and Ethan Hawke.

According to Edwards, Greene was an exceptionally talented character actor. He had two projects nearing completion: the film Mascots and a documentary called From the American People: The Withdrawal of USAID, which he was going to narrate, as reported by Deadline.
I was deeply saddened to hear about his passing. He truly dedicated his life to uncovering the tragic consequences – the lives lost globally – stemming from the changes made to USAID. Beyond his important work, he was just a remarkably generous and kind person, the type of friend who would do anything for you. He’ll be profoundly missed by everyone who knew him.
