Punisher: One Last Kill Was Right In Not Having A Post-Credits Scene
The conclusion of Punisher: One Last Kill feels complete, almost like a post-credits scene itself. We see a genuinely emotional moment with Frank visiting his daughter’s grave, reflecting on her presence and his determination to carry on. Then, the scene shifts to Frank back in costume, punishing a criminal who committed a particularly awful act – brutally killing a dog. This felt like a satisfying conclusion, showing the Punisher was still operating, and adding a sense of closure, making any further credits scene redundant.
It’s already been hinted that the Punisher will appear in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and that’s why we don’t see any setup for his return at the end of One Last Kill – Marvel likely wants to keep some surprises for the new movie. This approach is similar to several recent Marvel TV shows. For example, the final episodes of Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 and Wonder Man Season 1 didn’t include any post-credits scenes. Looking at Marvel’s special presentations, Guardians of the Galaxy: Holiday Special did have one, but Werewolf by Night did not.
Post-credit scenes don’t really work as well on streaming platforms because viewers can easily skip to them. Usually, these scenes encourage people to watch the full credits, but that’s not a factor when watching online. In the case of Punisher: One Last Kill, the scene wasn’t really needed; the ending already had the intended impact, and we already know what happens to the character next.
