Fans of the quirky fantasy comedy Pushing Daisies, which originally aired until 2009, have consistently campaigned for its return. Back then, fan efforts to save cancelled shows were gaining traction, and while they weren’t successful at the time, the Pushing Daisies fandom never lost hope. More than 15 years later, their dedication has only grown, and a revival of the show now seems more possible than ever before.
Last year, Bryan Fuller hinted that he was working on a third season of Pushing Daisies and hoped to revive the show. Recently, while promoting the new season of Invincible with ComicBook, Lee Pace shared an update on the potential continuation. Pace said he’s discussed Fuller’s plans for the season and it sounds exciting. He fondly remembered his time on the show, especially enjoying playing his character and working with Anna Friel, calling it a very special and important period in his life.

Honestly, I’d jump at the chance to revisit that project. It would be a total dream come true to work with those actors again, and especially to be back on set with Bryan Fuller – he’s a fantastic friend and collaborator. I’m really hoping he can make it happen.
Bryan Fuller has developed new story ideas for a potential continuation of Pushing Daisies, and Pace confirmed Fuller is still very enthusiastic about revisiting the show. Fuller mentioned last November that the original cast is on board for a third season, but the main challenge remains finding a studio or network willing to fund it.
Even though Pushing Daisies has a dedicated fanbase, bringing it back wouldn’t be inexpensive. Hollywood production costs are increasing, and the show would need funding for both special effects and salaries for the cast and crew, many of whom have become more well-known since the original series ended. Originally on ABC, the show was produced by Warner Bros. Television, which creates uncertainty about where it might air if revived.
Despite ending its run, Pushing Daisies was consistently praised by critics. Both seasons received incredibly high scores on Rotten Tomatoes – Season 1 at 92% and Season 2 with a perfect 100%. The show also earned seventeen Primetime Emmy nominations, winning seven awards. While a revival wouldn’t automatically equal the same success, its history of critical acclaim and dedicated fanbase suggest it could still be a hit.
Despite being cancelled, fans of Pushing Daisies have reason to stay optimistic. Revivals are incredibly popular with streaming services these days – just look at King of the Hill, which returned on Hulu last year and was quickly renewed for more seasons. Even traditional TV is seeing successful revivals, like the buzz around the new Scrubs. This proves that bringing back beloved shows is definitely possible.
